TONIGHT - BOARD MEETING at 5:30*

Literacy is on the Agenda


Please come show support for board members, Bryce Benson and Doug Woodward, who have requested an update from the literacy subcommittee, and for parents who will be making public comments.


A full board vote is expected this spring and parent attendance at board meetings is crucial for trustees to see that parents believe change is necessary. 


*Meeting Location: HPISD Multipurpose Building at 6900 Douglas Avenue, with parking on nearby streets

Come to learn about the evidence that supports the Science of Reading, what Balanced Literacy instruction looks like in HPISD, how you can support your student at home, and how to advocate for improvements in HPISD literacy instruction.The evening will feature:

  • Molly Salmon: HP resident, parent of HPISD graduates, and TX Reads co-founder. TX Reads is a project to increase the number of children reading on grade level by empowering teachers to align instruction with the science of reading. 
  • Christine Pacioretty: Founder of Pacioretty Academic Support Services and doctoral candidate pursing her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction. She has vast educational experience and currently supports students of all abilities in kindergarten through 12th grade in HPISD.
