If your workouts took a backseat this winter, you're not alone! With brighter, warmer days ahead, spring is an ideal time to get back into exercising. Check out these three tips to help you spring back into fitness.


Underestimate your abilities

Most people regress during the winter, even if they’ve stuck to a regular fitness routine. If you don’t ease back into your activities, you’re setting yourself up for muscle soreness and injury that can sideline you for weeks.


Take a walk

If you’ve been sedentary for weeks, check in with your doctor before revving up your activity. Once you get the all-clear, start with an easy walking schedule or stretching regimen.


Keep your expectations in check

The longer your workout hiatus, the more time you’ll need to get back to on track. If you worked out three to four times per week before your fitness vacation, it will take about four to eight weeks to get up to speed.

The 2023 500-Mile Challenge has started. It's not too late to get in on this year!

Join our growing list of members who are logging their miles!

Challenge yourself to walk, jog or run 500 miles in 2023. That's only 1.4 miles per day or less than 10 miles per week to stay on pace.


Log your miles at the fitness desk every time you use the indoor track or a treadmill at Fountain View Fitness. Earn a prize and recognition as you achieve each goal at 125, 250, 375, and 500 miles. Members completing 500 miles within 2023 can win a free membership for 2024.
