Hafa Adai Catherine,
Restoration is in full swing. Power and water are being restored, and connectivity is almost at pre-typhoon levels, yet we can all agree that there is much work to be done. As we accept the fate dealt to our homes, our businesses, and our livelihoods by Typhoon Mawar, we look ahead at hardening our infrastructure, establishing recovery objectives and budgets; and, incorporating lessons learned in our post-disaster recovery plans.
If you are looking at funding options to aid in your business recovery efforts, click here to view the fact sheets for U.S. SBA's Disaster Loan Assistance programs or visit any of the four (4) local Disaster Recovery Centers on the island. You can also view the recent virtual workshop hosted by GHRA, Guam Women's Chamber, SHRM, and the Guam Chamber of Commerce by clicking here.
I was delightfully surprised to hear that GWA has produced quick podcasts (literally 2 minutes!) to give the residents of Guam updates on water restoration efforts. Give the podcast a listen. Both Guam Waterworks and Guam Power Authority have been updating their Facebook pages frequently with restoration and other pertinent news about recovery efforts and safety information. If you haven't viewed their pages, I highly recommend that you give them a look and even bookmark them for future updates.
The Chamber continues to update our Typhoon Mawar Recovery page with new information and page links that may be helpful for you and your business. We have included a disaster recovery toolkit and a re-opening checklist that can be helpful as you work to get your company to full operational status. Please feel free to share the page with others who could benefit from the information.
We appreciate the number of businesses that have responded to our recovery survey. We will be releasing the results very soon. We are working on a special event to help us all move beyond recovery efforts so be on the lookout for details shortly.
As we continue to bring you updates here in your email box and via our social media pages, your Chamber Team is also working diligently to bring the office back up to working order. We appreciate your great support!
Thank you for all you are doing to support your employees and our community as we navigate the aftermath of the storm.
Onward Together,
Catherine Castro
President
