Dear SMA Community,
Our traditional Principal for a Day event was very relaxing for me last week. Miss T. did an amazing job approving field trips, assisting students and teachers, and giving out birthday bookmarks. We were very grateful for the extra 5 minutes of recess she granted too!
With each new school year, change is inevitable. Our Diocese has been blessed with the phenomenal leadership of Associate Superintendents Dr. Julie Cantillon and Mr. Matthew Cordes. They, along with administrative assistant extraordinaire, Anne Noya, are moving on to new positions. We wish them all the best and pray for the interviewing panel as they work diligently to replace these rare gems.
Congratulations to Mrs. Anne Thompson, who has devoted 29 years to St. Martin of Tours Preschool. She will be missed greatly and is leaving behind a very organized and loving legacy. Please read Mrs. Thompson's final edition of the Director's News here.
I am currently in the midst of meeting with each teacher to discuss their preferences and our staffing needs here at SMA. Please avoid listening to the rumor mill and asking teachers about their intent to return next year. This is a trying time each year when teachers are doing their best to finish the school year strong, but also must consider the upcoming school year. Thank you for trusting us in this process. All updates will be announced in our weekly newsletters, so stay tuned.
Our SMA Parent Group executive officers have been elected or are serving a second term. Thank you for those who nominated individuals. You can read more about our officers HERE.
Meet our SMA PTG Executive Officers:
President: Katie Scheie (Shanna 5, Ethan 1)
Vice-President: Rosario Burgos Santoyo (Paul 8, Alina 6)
Treasurer: Colm Driscoll (Victoria 4, Rauiri 2, Padraig K)
Secretary: Erin McCarthy (Delia 2)
We are currently looking for a Room Parent Coordinator. If you are interested, please contact the school office.
Grandparents' Day is quickly approaching! Parents are welcome to attend the 8:30 am Mass. But, the rest of the day is for our beloved grandparents. For those grandparents who have difficulty getting around, we have a golf cart to transport from the academy to the hall. There will be 4 areas for pick up. The upper lot by the hall is also reserved for anyone needing extra assistance. Our 12 pm dismissal procedures will occur as usual. Spartan Care will be open until 6 pm.
The month of May is packed full of activities, presentations and opportunities. Yearbook applications are due tomorrow and Student Council applications are now available (current 6th & 7th grade students). Please read the calendar closely (below).
Easter Blessings,
Jennifer Miller, Principal
