Civic Engagement Update: 2020 Student Voting Rates
Student voting rates at KU increased significantly in last year’s presidential election, rising to 71% in 2020 from a rate of 51.2% in 2016.

Across the country, student voter rates increased to 66%, nearly on par with the national average.

CSL Ambassador Program
The CSL Ambassador Program connects faculty, staff, students, and community partners who are interested in promoting service-learning, and civic and community engagement.

Ambassadors serve as liaisons to their department, unit, organization, and network to champion the integration of community and civic engagement.

Service Learning Course Designation
If your courses incorporate volunteer or service components, it may qualify for our Service Learning Course Designation!

Designated courses count towards the service learning course requirement for the Certificate in Service Learning.

Submit your course for Service Learning Designation.

Certificate in Service Learning
The Certificate in Service Learning recognizes undergraduate students' experiences in utilizing classroom skills to meet community-identified needs through service and civic action.

Once a student has earned the certificate, it is acknowledged on their official academic transcript.

Pressing Volunteer Need: Winter Emergency Shelter
The City of Lawrence's winter emergency shelter offers a warm, safe environment for anyone when the daily overnight temperature posted on the LJ-World website is at or below 35 degrees.

Volunteers will perform a variety of tasks including checking in clients, supervising them through the night, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Compact22 is Campus Compact's all-virtual 2022 national conference. It is the largest and most inclusive national conference focused on the role of higher education in building healthy communities and fostering a just and equal democracy.

Researchers: next time you complete your Streamlyne PI Checklist, there are two new fields that relate to community engagement.
A KUCR systems change like this advances and integrates community-engaged scholarship and further demonstrates the impact of our work in and with communities!
 
2022 Service Showcase and Celebration
The CSL's annual Service Showcase and Celebration will be held on April 21, 2022.

We have opened up our student presentation application early to capture summer and fall service learning projects and activities!
