MONDAY MEMO
Caroline presented 6th grader Russell with one of the Boswell Math & Science Awards at our well-attended Spring Concert in the Teachers Pavilion last week.
Hello {First Name},

Well here we are: the final Monday Memo of the 22-23 school year. Thank you to all the readers who've supported Riverside by keeping up with all that goes on in our integrated, community-based, and dynamic program during the school year.

Happy Monday,
Nelia
NOTES
TEACHER APPRECIATION MEALS
The teachers thank you all for contributing such delicious and plentiful meals for us this week! It's simply wonderful to not have to focus on feeding ourselves, to try new and well-balanced dishes, and to have leftovers to take home and share. The crew of parents who are setting up and cleaning up have a great attention to detail and comfort with the tradition, which is also a wonderful support. We thank you!
SPRING FIELD TRIPS
Check out photos from all the trips here on our website.

5th Graders will be going to Kingdom Trails this Tuesday, see an email from Hanna with all the relevant details.

BIKE TO SCHOOL
On our last day of school this Friday, June 9, students are encouraged to ride their bikes to school, as long as they are:
  • in groups of 6 or less,
  • elementary students are accompanied by an adult,
  • any "follow cars" don't impede traffic flow, and
  • the riders don't cross into the cars' lane of travel.
This tradition was started by students from Guildhall, so don't let distance or elevation impede you! Have fun, and don't worry, we won't count any tardies from those making their way on two-wheels.
FRIDAY FUN
Friday is going to be a whole day of outdoor activities of different kinds in mixed age groups, Students need to bring to school:
  • a shirt, hat, bandana, or flag that represents their house color (Ignis red, Terra green, Caelum white or grey, Aqua blue)
  • closed toed shoes for group games
  • sunscreen (applied before school)
  • water bottle
  • snack and lunch
  • bathing suit or clothes that can get wet, towel and dry clothes
  • water gun (optional)
  • a sturdy bag for any personal belongings, including extras found or school work collected during the day
Schedule:
before 8:00 Bike to School (optional)
  • 8:00 Donut Party in the Pavilion
  • 8:15 Assembly and "2023" drone photo
  • 8:45 Yearbook Signing
  • 9:30 Snack Break
  • 10:00 Group Games

  • 12:45 Help Riverside
  • 1:05 Talent Show in the cedars
  • 2:30 Water Fight
  • 3:00 K-5 Dismissal, 6-8 Clean Up
You might consider parking when you come to pick up, as dismissal from the water fight will be a little slow, there will be a lost and found display to browse, and there might be something helpful parents can do for a few minutes to help us clean up and set up for graduation. 7th grade parents, you may have already signed up to help with some early potluck preparation at this time as well.
PK-8 GRADUATION
Our 42nd graduation ceremony will be at 10:00 am this Saturday, June 10. This is an event to honor the hard work and achievements of all our Preschool-8th grade students, as well as the culture of our kind and generous community that makes their success possible. The ceremony, which includes students processing through the cedars, choral performances from the porch of the house, a guest speaker, 8th grade speakers, awards for students of all ages, and a presentation of diplomas to the Class of 2023 is meaningful to all of us. That day is counted as school day and we hope that every student will attend with some members of their family. If your child(ren) will not be attending, please email Krystal so that she can mark the attendance record and we can plan the rehearsal accordingly.

The ceremony will be surrounded by student artwork on display and followed by a potluck lunch. We ask all families to bring a salad or main course dish to share. Please remember a serving utensil and mark all your personal items with your name. Please also plan to list the ingredients, we will have markers and cards available if necessary. Riverside will be providing drinks and a cake. Thank you to the 7th grade parents who will be setting up the potluck, so you can simply hand your dish to one of them in the barn when you arrive for the ceremony.
SUMMER MAILINGS FROM RIVERSIDE
There are two large pieces of mail you'll receive from us over the summer; please keep an eye out for them and respond as needed:
  • June Mailing: trimester reports, summer reading/homework, life skills poster, school calendar
  • August Mailing: annual enrollment forms, standardized testing results
If you reside in a choice town, please also keep an eye out for emails regarding voucher payments.
SOLAR CAR WORK THIS SUMMER
This summer, Roy would like to finish up “Helios VI,” the current electric car project. Almost all components are installed, and we’ve already had it running. We’d like to refine some things (remove weight, add charging features, etc.) and put a body on the frame so that we could have the car looking spiffy in the Burke Fall Foliage Festival on September 30th. If your child (or you) are interested in working on that this summer, please reach out to Roy.
RECESS RELAY AGAINST CANCER
Donors and racers: you raised more than $5000 for the American Cancer Society to continue its research and development of strategies to fight cancer in our country, we thank you! Riverside's relay was a precursor to the Caledonia County Relay for Life, which will be happening next fall, on September 9, at the Wildflower Inn.
CLUBS THIS WEEK
  • Dungeons and Dragons Club will meet Tuesday from 3:30 - 5:00.
