International Women’s Day
March 8, 2022
International Women's Day (IWD) is marked annually on March 8. It is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women's achievements or rally for women's equality.
The campaign theme for International Women's Day 2022 is Break the Bias.
Celebrate women's achievements. Raise awareness against bias. Take action for equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.
Watch for our IWD social media campaign on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Inclusivity and Diversity Committee presents:
A Discussion to Break the Bias
Join us on March 9, as Natalie Vibert and Al Jeraj lead a discussion that will bring to light the many challenges women face in the workplace.
We all have biases, sometimes they are unconscious. We need to act now to support, retain, and advance women. Combating inequality is critical to getting this right.
Please join us for this informative webinar designed to empower people to identify and challenge bias head-on.
The event will take place 12 p.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2022.
Members attending this webinar will earn one hour toward Professional Meeting Hours for CPD.

Call for Volunteers for Industry Advisory Committee on Asset Management
The University of Calgary Geomatics Engineering program has launched a course in Asset Management, which is an expanding field that relates well to the skills of surveyors.
They are hoping to create additional courses leading to a certificate in Asset Management and are looking for help in directing this growth.
If you are interested in participating on an Industry Advisory Committee, please contact Robert Radovanovic at robert.radovanovic@ucalgary.ca.
GeoIgnite
Canada’s National Geospatial Conference at www.wintergeo.com is a free virtual event that takes place from March 1 to 3, 2022, with a workshop week running from March 4 to March 10, 2022.
GeoIgnite invites the community to come together online for updates on services, investment, and technology from geospatial leaders in Canada’s private and public sector.
The themes of the conference relate to climate change, and as this is a free event for the Canadian community, it is the perfect opportunity to see what the sector is doing to monitor and combat climate change.
GeoIgnite will assemble the largest online audience of Canadian geospatial practitioners, managers, senior executives, and enthusiasts for over a week’s worth of collaboration and engagement.
