Gift Card Drive - Thank you!
The holiday gift card drive was an incredible success. The PTA is blown away by the tremendous generosity of our school community. In a few short days the PTA gathered just over $4,000 in gift card donations for Rockwell families in need.
We would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the 78 families who donated to this special drive. Thanks to your generosity, those Rockwell families who were hit hard by Covid-19 will be able to use the donated gift cards from Target and Fred Meyer for food and holiday gifts. We'd also like to thank our creative and crafty volunteer parents who helped design this awesome display which serves as a thank-you for the families who donated to this important cause. We are Beagle strong!

School Spirit Day - Dec 15
Seahawks/Sports Day
Celebrate school spirit by rocking your favorite sports team gear this Wednesday, Dec 15.
What is school Spirit Day? It's a special day where students show their school spirit by dressing up in line with the day's theme.
Spirit Days will be the last Wednesday of each month. For December and June, it will be the Wednesday before we break for holidays.

Math Challenge Tournament 2021
Great job to all the mathematicians who participated in the Math Challenge Tournament on Saturday, December 11th! We had 57 students participate under Rockwell's school code. Way to go each one of you, keep up the good work!

Math Challenge #6

Math Challenge #6 is now available HERE.
Please feel free to try more questions than the minimum required for your grade level in order to qualify. Grab some friends and family and work on the challenges together! Once your student completes the challenge, email their paper by the due date to mathchallenge@normanrockwellpta.org

Attention parents of
4th and 5th Graders!
If your student is interested in being part of this spring's theater production, please consider volunteering to help!
We need two (or more) producers to help lead this exciting event! In years past we have done a musical, but due to Covid precautions we are evaluating other theater options. We have started communicating with professional theater companies to make reservations, including picking the production the students will perform, so if you want to be part of that decision, please join us. If you and your student are interested in continuing this wonderful Rockwell tradition, please contact, Gretchen at events@normanrockwellpta.org

2021 Rockwell Food Drive
Our 2021 Rockwell Food Drive will kick off on Monday, December 6th and run through Wednesday, December 15th (a big thank you to Shelby, Cari, and our Leadership students for their work on the drive).
Students and families are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to drop off in bins next to the office, and outside bins before and after school.

Really, what could be an easier way to raise money for your PTA than doing your regular shopping?
Especially as we enter the Holiday season, it is time to start using AmazonSmile all the time and other similar programs. Here is a link listing just a few programs that donate a percentage of YOUR regular shopping back to the school and our PTA programs. This is free money to help the PTA fund all the wonderful Academic Enrichment programs here at Rockwell.

5th Grade Cover Contest
Interested in drawing, sketching or doodling the
Norman Rockwell Spirit?
It's a Rockwell tradition for the graduating classes to submit designs for the yearbook's front & back cover.
Enter the yearbook cover contest and your design could be selected!
Deadline: Friday, January 7th, 2022
Requirements:
- Black pen or black marker only please

Please use two 8x10 papers to draw your pictures (front/back cover images)
How to Submit:
There are two ways to submit artwork. Students can:
- Give to their teacher (please write name on back paper) or
- Scan & email yearbook@normanrockwellpta.org
- Accepted file formats include: jpg, SVG, TIFF, PNG and PDF (zip files also accepted). Files can be up to 100MB per file

Lunch Recess Volunteers Needed
We have an immediate need for parent volunteers to assist with lunch recess. Volunteers are needed to help Monday through Friday, for shifts between 11:40AM and 1:00PM. Volunteers will help coordinate specific recess activities for kiddos during lunch recess.
Specifically, volunteers will help manage a small group of kids for specific games (i.e. red light/green light game, coloring station, loom band crafts, shark/minnows sports challenges, HORSE basketball games, etc.) We'd love to have 4-6 parents helping each and every day. Even if you're not able to help the whole shift, we'd love the extra hands for even half and hour. In case you'd like to coordinate your volunteer shift to align with your child's recess, here's the recess schedule:
Kindergarten: 11:40AM - 12:00PM
1st Grade: 11:50AM - 12:30PM
2nd Grade: 12:00PM - 12:30PM
3rd Grade: 12:10PM - 12:40PM
4th Grade: 12:20PM - 12:50PM
5th Grade: 12:30PM - 1:00PM
This is an on-going volunteer opportunity, and we'd love for you to sign up for one shift, or even a dozen. To volunteer, please sign-up HERE
PLEASE NOTE: You must be an approved LWSD volunteer (you can apply HERE if you're not already a registered volunteer). You also need to verify your vaccination status with the district, or Stacy Hatch in our front office (you must bring your vaccination card and ID).
