County Chipper Program - The County of Sonoma has begun accepting applications for its seasonal Chipper Program, which provides free chipper services to residents seeking to make their property more wildfire safe. Provided through the Permit Sonoma Fire Prevention Division, this free service assists property owners in creating defensible space, which can be critical in preventing the spread of a wildfire to a home. Press Release

Photos - Spring sunshine means getting out in the community, and we've had a lot to celebrate in the First District! Congratulations to the Hanna Center on the opening of their Mental Health Hub, Homeless Action Sonoma on their Tiny Home Village, and the Sonoma Land Trust on the Sonoma Mountain Vernal Pools!

Save money on your annual sewage bill - Discounts on sewer service bills are available to low-income homeowners who live within the Sonoma Valley County Sanitation District. The discounts, which can cut the sewage charge on your annual property tax bill in half, are also available to nonprofit organizations that provide housing to low-income renters in the Sonoma Valley sanitation district.

Applications are due by July 10. Learn more and apply at the link below.

Sonoma County Transit - Beginning August 2023, Sonoma County Transit will be providing new bus service direct to Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) Petaluma campus, Credo High School, and Sonoma State University (SSU) from the Sonoma Valley. The new route eliminates the stopover at the Petaluma Transfer Center, departs at 7:20am and will take only 30, 50 and 58 minutes to reach the three campuses (please note this is a draft schedule). There is one direct return bus in the afternoon that services each campus. Please share and take advantage of this new service route.
