Monday, October 11th through Sunday, October 17th

Astrological Highlights for the week: Mercury inconjunct Uranus on Monday night; Venus connects with Saturn on Wednesday; Sun is inconjunct Neptune on Wednesday; trine Jupiter on Friday and squares Pluto on Sunday.

Astrologically speaking this is an important week for the Sun in Libra. As you may have noticed planets moving through Libra including the Sun, Mars, and retrograding Mercury have no lack of interactions around the cosmos. Some are very positive and supportive, others not so much. The Sun deserves to be singled out as it represents our ego, sense of self, and how we identify ourselves as unique, different, and separate from others. Removing much of the judgment around the word ego, think of it simply as the picture we have of ourselves including our aspirations and assessment of our strengths and weaknesses. This week the Sun is literally in the cosmic spotlight as it makes important connections with Neptune (Wednesday), Jupiter (Friday) and with Pluto (Sunday).

Although most of us were not born with the Sun in Libra, we nevertheless resonate with the Sun’s interactions whatever they may be. If you happen to be a Libra, you may feel these energies more acutely than others.

On Wednesday the Sun forms an awkward connection (inconjunct aka quincunx) with Neptune in its home sign of Pisces. We are either starry-eyed or delusional. It’s all in the perspective! It’s an altered state of consciousness that influences how we view ourselves. With Neptune’s overarching association with spirit (versus matter) it’s easier to get in touch with transpersonal qualities like compassion and empathy. Neptune also resonates with intuition, creativity, and imagination.

Because the Sun’s connection with Neptune is a challenging one, we need to beware of potential shadows and pitfalls. There is a fine line between brilliance and crazy as we have all experienced in the world and in ourselves. Don’t tell me you have never looked back at something – maybe that haircut or wardrobe choice – and thought “What was I thinking???” Neptune’s ethereal nature can confuse us especially when it comes to our own value, self-esteem, and purpose.

Mid-week this aspect between the Sun and Neptune could lead us to more than just a misstep with hair color. We could feel an exaggerated sense of self-sacrifice or feel a spiritual or moral responsibility to serve others. Left unchecked we may prioritize others’ needs and preferences while denying our own. It’s rare advice, but maybe we could be more selfish – or better yet self-centered. (Merriam-Webster defines self-centered as “independent of outside force or influence: self-sufficient.) While letting love and kindness be our guide, we can keep appropriate boundaries decreasing the chance others will use, abuse, or totally deplete us.

On Friday the news is much brighter. We receive a huge infusion of faith and hope when the Sun in Libra trines Jupiter in Aquarius. This is one of the most beneficial of planetary connections as Jupiter is traditionally called the “greater benefic”. You would have to be quite the pessimist to not be influenced by the cheerful, optimistic, and hopeful energy this connection creates. Think of it as a lens through which we can glimpse the magic within.

On a soul level we are one and we are the same; but as personalities living on planet earth, we are all blessed with different gifts, talents, and abilities. We may have let distractions get in the way of our vision of ourselves. When the Sun trines Jupiter we get a loving shove to open our eyes and see ourselves in a more hopeful and respectful light. Things we believed out of our reach suddenly seem possible.

Jupiter ends a lengthy retrograde pattern on Sunday, so this connection between the Sun and Jupiter may be a good luck charm that builds in brightness over the next month or so. Use this energy to get reacquainted with yourself, your passions, and your gifts. Resolve from this moment on to maximize your strengths, accept and make accommodations for your weaknesses and to always be your own best friend.

The final Solar aspect this week is a square to Pluto on Sunday. Pluto the planet of elimination and transformation is almost never subtle. When the Sun in charming and justice-seeking Libra conflicts with Pluto in no-nonsense Capricorn the energy is intense. It may elicit feelings we’d prefer to forget, deny, or totally obliterate. You know the ones - vulnerability, jealousy, possessiveness, and feeling out of control. If only we could control the world! If only we could control ourselves.

Be prepared for internal struggles as well as power struggles with others. This is passionate energy that can be used to manipulate, influence, and transform. It’s a powerful tool to be respected and handled carefully. Although it can be initially daunting, jumping this hurdle successfully will increase our self-confidence and empower us to face future challenges. Jupiter moving direct on Sunday will also help. It’s next to impossible to not feel the hope and potential building.

Until next week, let go and wear loose clothes.

PS – please don’t skip the dailies and surely not Thursday when Venus enters Sagittarius. There is a peek into the future you will want to see.

Moon in Sagittarius/Capricorn
Void of Course Moon enters Capricorn 10:15am
Under the influence of an adventurous Sagittarius Moon, we are in the mood to spend time outdoors soaking up sunshine and nature vibes. If you are an outdoor exerciser, get your walk, run, swim, or tennis or pickleball game, in early. Late morning the Moon enters Saturn-ruled Capricorn – the sign of work. Saturn, the planet of discipline, organization, and structure, just finished a lengthy retrograde pattern and is now moving direct. We can expect as it picks up speed, we too are ready to take some action towards goals.

Today we are tuned into Saturn’s energy. We are self-starters not relying on luck or anyone else’s help to get where we want to go. With the Moon in efficient Capricorn, we are willing to work as part of a team but probably happiest if we are in the lead. Working solo may feel more appropriate. This energy tends to prioritize projects and goals over people and relationships. Although, we certainly recognize the importance of co-workers and allies and will enlist them if their efforts will further our identified goal. They are not in the picture for emotional support but as strategic parts of our plan. I know it may sound a bit heartless; but Capricorn by nature can be an ambitious loner. When we are under this lunar influence, we build self-esteem and confidence by testing ourselves and demonstrating our ability to accomplish and persevere on our own.

Being the lone wolf is not such a bad idea considering retrograding Mercury is moving toward a sticky and uncomfortable connection with Uranus late tonight (early morning for many of us). This is the second of three meetings between the planet of thinking and communication, and the planet of revolution. (The first was 9/10 and the final will occur on 10/24). This is an evolving pattern of identifying where we feel restricted or censored, especially when it comes to our thinking and communications. This understanding helps us break out of the patterns and forge new ones.

Tonight, and tomorrow, we may have what seems like a revelation. When we examine this aha moment, we probably recognize it has been coming for a long time. It may lead to an acceptance of ourselves as independent and unusual thinkers and communicators. Maybe our message is ahead of its time, out of sync with what’s popular, or our style goes against the mainstream. What’s most important is understanding and acceptance. The better we appreciate our messaging and our audience, the better we communicate…or not.

Challenges are precipitated by cranky interactions with others. Don’t expect other people to immediately jump on board with our evolving ideas and decisions. Give it some time. Using our lives, feelings, and responses as lessons, we can get in touch with deeper sources of our anger, frustration, pain, and joy. Uranus helps us disengage from attachments that are limiting.

Mercury’s many planetary interactions this month work collectively to help us gain more clarity and to recognize the power of our minds to choose our interpretations and perceptions. Tonight, is one more opportunity for a puzzle piece to be revealed.

Daily Muse: I've come to believe that each of us has a personal calling that's as unique as a fingerprint - and that the best way to succeed is to discover what you love and then find a way to offer it to others in the form of service, working hard, and also allowing the energy of the universe to lead you…With every experience, you alone are painting your own canvas, thought by thought, choice by choice. (Oprah Winfrey – Mercury in Aquarius perfectly inconjunct Uranus in Cancer.)

Moon in Capricorn
Here’s hoping you read Monday’s write-up about the Capricorn Moon; there is an intensification of this energy throughout Tuesday. The lone-wolf side of the Capricorn Moon is front and center as Luna makes challenging squares with three planets in the partnership sign of Libra. Our emotions are out of sync with our thinking (square to Mercury) about relationships and probably about money and finances. We may be faced with a decision today in which our hearts and actions seem to be at odds with each other (Moon square Mars). If we are prone to pessimism, we are probably seeing our options as a choice between two evils. The Sun’s square to the Moon this evening seems to solidify our dilemma. Is there a win in this situation?

Thankfully the Moon is also making two positive and enlightening planetary connections today. Both will help mitigate some of the discordant feelings elicited by the lunar connections described above. The first is to Uranus inviting creativity and offering legitimacy to out-of-the-box thinking and solutions. Demanding times require creative and unconventional responses. Tonight, a soothing and spiritually compelling lunar alliance with Neptune helps us re-connect to our values and find a different and more forgiving perspective.

Daily Muse: Every night I say prayers for him just so he knows that when my day ends and I'm ready to dream he will always be one of the last waking thoughts I have and perhaps one of the first dreams of my sleeping night.
(Sandra Bernhard - Moon sextile Neptune and trine Pluto)

Moon in Capricorn/Aquarius
Moon Goes Void of Course 3:53am enters Aquarius 1:47pm
The day may start on a somewhat cathartic note as the Moon meets up with Pluto in Capricorn. This early morning connection (3:53 Pacific Time) adds a sense of gravity to our emotions, if we are awake, that is. It could be powerful enough to interject drama into our dreams or wake us up with a sense of destiny calling. Indeed, an event or interaction that feels fated may be forthcoming as Venus in audacious Sagittarius makes a favorable sextile connection to Saturn in Aquarius.

We tout the flirty and adventurous spirit of Venus in Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius. This is not usually a time we want to limit our options by making commitments. We want to expand the possibilities! Today, could be the exception. Whenever Venus bonds with Saturn in a beneficial way (usually a trine or sextile) we are more inclined to take an oath, make a commitment, or accept a responsibility. It should be a good day for making amends for any recent transgressions. Spending too much time at the office, on the computer, or at the job site? (Capricorn Moons tend to be workaholics.) Today we find greater harmony with loved ones by shifting our focus.

We may even find synchronicity leads us to a potential new love. This could be a person, a home, pleasurable hobby or pastime, exercise program, or a new job or career. We feel like we are in the right place at the right time and there is a bit of magic in the air. Keep in mind, magic or not, Saturn expects us to be patient and earn our blessings and pleasures. First, we show up, then we must be ready to act.

Another influence today is the Sun in Libra’s inconjunct with Neptune in Pisces. We are either starry-eyed or delusional. It’s all in the perspective! It’s an altered state of consciousness that influences how we view ourselves. With Neptune’s overarching association with spirit (versus matter) it’s easier to get in touch with transpersonal qualities like compassion and empathy. Because this is a challenging connection we need to beware of potential shadows. These include an exaggerated tendency towards self-sacrifice or feeling a spiritual or moral responsibility to serve others. Left unchecked we may prioritize others’ needs and preferences while denying our own. It’s rare advice, but today, maybe we should be more selfish – or better yet self-centered. (Merriam-Webster defines self-centered as “independent of outside force or influence: self-sufficient.) While letting love and kindness be our guide, we can keep appropriate boundaries decreasing the chance others will use, abuse, or totally deplete us.

In mid-afternoon the Moon heads for the mental sign of Aquarius. We’re able to shift into a different heart space and detach from recent drama. But then again, this Moon has a definite rebellious streak. Hanging out with people of like mind is preferable. But don’t be surprised if even our dependable cronies seem to be rubbing us the wrong way. With an Aquarius Moon, we need to know we can walk away…if we want to.

Daily Muse: Living is messy. (Woody Allen – Moon in Aquarius)

October 14
Moon in Aquarius
The Aquarian Moon’s connection to Saturn emboldens our dreams or our sense of authority if we are working a night shift (1:52 am Pacific Time). If we dream, we are taking control of the world, or maybe just taking more responsibility in our lives it’s Saturn’s influence. This Moon is steeped in Uranian agitation so sleep may be restless; enough so that the Moon’s connection to Venus at 3:03 am PDT could be enough to get us out of bed and moving towards something we are excited about.

Mid-morning the Moon trines retrograding Mercury. We are self-confident in our words and communications, but should we be? There’s plenty of room for self-doubt amid our unyielding proclamations. Don’t let volume or repetition fool you. Neither are indications of truth. The Aquarian Moon encourages us to question everything. But we should be cautious about rejecting everything without a fair examination. We are leaning towards throwing out everything old and embracing everything new when Aquarius rules our hearts. During this Mercury retrograde, (through next Monday) allow yourself to objectively review and renew with patience.

Now, about patience. It’s in short supply this afternoon when the Moon forms a conflicting square with Uranus. We will rebel against most anything and everything that crosses our path. Tempers may flare unexpectedly, or emotional outbursts erupt. If you find yourself feeling triggered, attempt to step outside yourself for a moment and observe without judgment. The instigating event is probably not at the root of what is upsetting; it merely becomes the flash point. What could or would we want to do differently next time?

We are still feeling unsettled this evening, but a plan is emerging as the Moon is moving toward a peace-making alignment with Mars in Libra in the early hours of Friday morning. We may benefit tonight as we consider our motivations for being in relationship with others. Hopefully we can dial back our insistence on others having to be a certain way and meet all our needs. (This is our job!)

Daily Muse: I don’t believe in learning from other people’s pictures. I think you should learn from your own interior vision of things and discover, as I say, Innocently, as though there had never been anybody. (Orson Welles – Moon in Aquarius conjunct Uranus and North Node of the Moon square Sun and Mercury in Taurus)

October 15
Moon in Aquarius/Pisces
Moon Goes Void of Course 5:33am enters Pisces at 7:22pm
This has all the makings of a wonderful day, if we can get a handle on our egos and take responsibility for our choices. We are under the influence of a rebellious Aquarian Moon, which by now may be wearing a bit thin. Like a two-year old throwing a fit, we may be weary of spending our efforts fighting against what we don’t like instead of working towards what we do. Thank you, Aquarian Moon, for your energy and pluck; let’s see what happens when we apply this spirit cooperatively.

In the early morning hours, the Moon makes a beneficial connection to Mars in Libra starting us off on the right foot, even if we are in dreamland (12:57 am PDT). In the early morning we get a huge infusion of faith and hope when the Sun in Libra trines Jupiter in Aquarius. This is one of the most beneficial of planetary connections as the Sun represents our sense of self and Jupiter is traditionally the “greater benefic”. You would have to be quite the pessimist to not be influenced by the cheerful, optimistic, and hopeful energy this connection projects. Think of it as a lens through which we can glimpse the magic within. On a soul level we are one and we are the same; but as personalities living on planet earth, we are all blessed with different gifts, talents, and abilities. We may have let distractions get in the way of our vision; today we get a loving shove to open our eyes and see ourselves in a more hopeful and respectful light.

In case we are slow to recognize the above, the Moon in Aquarius joins Jupiter this morning too. Perhaps our rebellion and unrest take on a new purpose – promoting hope. There is more good news this evening when the Sun in Libra and the Moon in Aquarius find common ground. Our sense of needing to mutiny is dissolving and emotionally we are looking for ways to rejoin those of like mind – those we consider to be our true family.

Later excited emotions are further transformed as the Moon enters intuitive and forgiving Pisces. A changing perspective puts a new light on our desire to be separate from others.

Daily Muse: You come to a point in your life when you really don't care what people think about you, you just care what you think about yourself… I decided to fly through the air and live in the sunlight and enjoy life as much as I could… I am a lucky, lucky person. (Evel Knievel – Sun in Libra trine Jupiter in Aquarius; Moon in Leo)

October 16
Moon in Pisces
The Pisces Moon lures us into her dreamy realm of imagination today. It’s a good place to be if we have at least one safeguard. The best lifeline is having a connection to your inner self, your inner guide and teacher, aka a spiritual practice or discipline. Impressionable Pisces otherwise can get swept up by every ripple, wave, or suggestion.

It’s a great Moon for exploring creativity, imagination, and intuition. Generally, we don’t want to deal with too much “reality” so those activities and qualities that appeal to the opposite sign of Virgo – cleaning, organizing, analyzing, discipline and efficiency seem like too much work. We want to go with the flow! Emotionally we are focusing only on the process, not the destination. Taking our eye off the goal for a day or two isn’t going to do any real damage, so maybe we ought to give ourselves a break.

Also working against our making any measurable progress today is Mars in Libra forming a cranky inconjunct with Neptune in Pisces. We may think we know what is best for our relationships and for our loved ones but pushing our vision onto them probably will not be well received. How often do we realize in retrospect we don’t even know what is best for us? Rather than spending time “fixing” other people we can practice opening ourselves up to inspiration. Play with activities like meditation, channeled writing, animal communication, taking a walk, or writing poetry or music, drawing or painting. Where does your inspiration come from and what are the channels most in alignment with you? What feeds your imagination and your soul?

A grouchy connection between the Moon and Venus this afternoon provides the motivation for staying in our own yard and not interfering with where we don’t belong. Meanwhile retrograding Mercury is moving toward a sweet connection with Venus tonight. Reconciliation is found in unexpected communications and creativity soars. Look for more surprising possibilities for connection tonight when the Moon aligns with Uranus. That movie you have been resisting turns out to be a delightful surprise.

Daily Muse: Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, dreams are forever. (Walt Disney – Mercury in Scorpio sextile Venus in Capricorn; Sun conjunct Uranus in Sagittarius)

October 17
Moon in Pisces
Jupiter Moves Forward 10:30 pm
Moon goes Void of Course at 4:24 pm
We may think of the Pisces Moon as being a softie, and sometimes it is. But today, we probably want to escape rather than finding a way to be creative or imaginative around the challenging energy. But keep in mind, Pisces ability to transcend is always an avenue! The difficulty is anything but subtle this morning when the Sun in Libra squares Pluto in Capricorn. This brings up intense feelings and often ones we’d rather forget, like vulnerability, jealousy, and possessiveness. If only we could control the world! If only we could control ourselves. Watch for internal struggles as well as power struggles with others. This is passionate energy that can be used to manipulate, influence, and transform. It’s a powerful tool to be respected and handled carefully.

It’s a good time to look at our insecurities and our defenses. What are the triggers that make us feel unsafe, overlooked, oppressed, or dominated? Getting a better understanding of these feelings and learning how to transform them is the key. When we seek to wield authority or power over others, and make them change or conform, it should be a red flag.

Be prepared to let off some steam. Use this heads up to avoid potential trigger situations and interactions. Fortunately, once we get past the initial shock of this energy, the Moon’s conjunction with Neptune helps us dive into the compassion, empathy, and intuition that will smooth out this rough energy. In late afternoon the Moon’s connection with Pluto will also provide insight into how we can harness our powerful passions and channel them for good.

Way to bury the lead! Jupiter finishes its annual retrograde pattern today. Looking forward we find it easier to believe in a positive future. As the planet of hope, Jupiter coming out of its retreat makes everything seem brighter.

Daily Muse: You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it… I am extraordinarily patient, provided I get my own way in the end. (Margaret Thatcher – Sun in Libra square Pluto in Cancer and square Jupiter in Capricorn)

Most of us are surrounded by the love of our pets. For me it's what makes me hate love because the pain of losing them is so egregious. I now have two new reports that take a gentle but entertaining view of your pet (sorry, only cats and dogs) through the lens of astrology.

It's a fun gift for the pet lover that has everything.

For the Cat Report, Click here

I dreamed I was with my mother, in a restaurant, having a nice conversation. She pointed to a loud group at another table and said, "Steve got married and he’s very happy." This surprised me. My friend, Steve, called himself, "A Lone Wolf," and had never been married. He’d had plenty of relationships, but the thought of settling down wasn’t in his nature.

I stood up, walked over, congratulated him, and noticed that he was wearing a wedding ring. I’d never seen a piece of jewelry on him before. I asked to see it. He seemed embarrassed, but extended his hand. It was silver with a flat, square area that looked like a signet ring, but on top of that was the raised metal outline of a heart. This surprised me so much that I awoke.

Realizing that I’d been dreaming, I hoped that Steve could eventually find someone to be happy with and settle down. I knew that secretly it had always been something he’d hoped for. "Will it happen for him?" I wondered. It was then that I remembered Steve died seven years ago. It also occurred to me that we hadn’t spoken for the last 20 years of his life due to ideological differences that we couldn’t ignore.

I’ve been pondering the dream. I don’t think I was connecting with Steve on another plane. Although my mother and I were capable of pleasant discussions, they could change in an instant, and often did. I’d felt no tension. I didn’t take it as an omen of my own mortality, but I think the message is a powerful and important one.

What I took from the dream is that anyone we’ve ever met, everyone we’ve ever known is within us. They live in our hearts and in our minds. They may have left physically, but they are still quite present as a part of our daily lives, unnoticed but vital.

The loss of a family member, friend, colleague or perhaps even someone you’ve never met but have admired, can be devastating. My father’s death almost 40 years ago gutted me for a long time. I loved and admired him and we were great friends. My mom has been gone for over 20 years. I’ve lost many friends. None of this is a big surprise as I’m closer to 70 than I am to 60. This is the natural way of being a human.

The ancient Egyptians portrayed individuals in artwork in their most healthy and powerful forms. When Ramses the great was a very old man, he was still portrayed as the youthful, powerful guardian of a nation. Perhaps the Egyptians had noticed what I have, that those I see in my dreams, from my past, look their best and appear to be happy. It makes sense that the forms we create would be at their strongest, because if we like them at all, it’s how we would want them to be. We may have created their images within, but they are as real as we are.

Life is powerful. It is a beautiful and remarkable journey. Every day gives new lessons, as well as opportunities to do something positive for those we share our worlds with. Being alive is a blessing, one I never take for granted.

Personal loss is hard. Even though we will never see that person on this plane again, they aren’t gone. They reside inside of us, in our hearts and our memories. If we are kind and loving to people, we will also exist in others. As my ancestors believed, those who are remembered are truly immortal.

Until next week, I wish you all peace and love.

Healing
My definition of healing is the improvement of a condition, situation, or circumstance, a shift in consciousness that lifts a burden. It is not a special thing but an everyday thing,

An example of every day healing is Validation. The definition of validation is to make valid, substantiate or confirm, and humanly speaking, everyone is starved for it.

Validation is as simple as saying hello to people you encounter, smiling, making eye contact. Asking someone how they are and being interested in their answer. When you acknowledge someone else you are saying “I see you” and that is important because in the day-to-day routine it is easy to feel invisible.

We are all One, so when you validate someone else you validate Spirit, and you too are validated. When you sincerely give anything, even a compliment, you are as validated in the giving as the recipient of your gift. My little dog, Grace and I go for a walk every morning and I love seeing people light up when I compliment their dog. It is a small thing, but it sure feels good, it brightens someone’s day, and they may just pass it on from there.

By my definition, I would say we are all healers, wouldn’t you?

Have a very blessed week
Kelly

Hello beauties!

Welcome back for another edition of Weekly Grace.
I hope you are doing well and enjoying some Fall foliage!

It hasn't hit Philadelphia yet. *sad face*

Spiritual Condition
We have all had that experience of waking up, tired, lethargic and feeling all around crappy. We wake up but there is no significant difference between our dream life and our awake one. We feel at the mercy of what life is giving us and struggle to get through the day. Everything hurts, everything is hard and it feels painful just to try.

If you are human, you have had those days.

Then, there are the really beautiful mornings in which we look like a commercial for Folgers coffee. All snuggly, we sit up in bed and stretch. We see the sun peaking into our bedroom greeting us with a good morning. We ease into our day, we take things nice and slow and we embrace every moment. We feel good and no matter what happens; we have an inner peace that keeps us positive and in perspective.

If you are human, you have had at least one of these days.

The difference between the two days can be a slew of issues and circumstances, but ultimately, it is reflective of our spiritual condition. Spiritual condition is different from emotions or mentality. It is more specifically about our relationship to God and to life.

Our spiritual condition comes through humility and really looking at ourselves and our actions. Even the most spiritual people in the world are still human. But the more they are able to be objective viewers of themselves, the more choice they have in their lives.

Our spiritual condition is predicated upon awareness and trust. Imagine an athlete who trains diligently for months for the big game. They put in the work but no one can truly predict what will happen in that final moment. When it comes, they know they have done their work, but there is no guarantee. They have to let go and trust that the work they did is enough and the truth is, sometimes it's not.

I'm a big fan of the Rocky films in which boxer Rocky Balboa is always getting defeated and then coming back stronger. I want to point out: there is value to failure. Failure can be a great motivator for all of us. There is great value to fear, stress and anxiety. All of these systems challenge us and as humans, we need a good challenge to overcome. We need that supposed mountain to move to keep our lives purposeful and exciting.

But that doesn't mean it isn't painful. So back to the athlete, trust is not about winning. Trust is about giving it all you got and putting the rest in God's hands. Trust is the months of training and how much you give it because you want to be the best. Trust is knowing that even if you don't win the battle, God will give you the war.

So spiritual condition is more than just waking up happy or sad, it's about our relationship to Spirit. It's the existential reasoning of how we see life. It is more than just our perspective- it's how fit we are mentally, emotionally and physically to show up for life. And what we do on a daily basis to keep ourselves in check.

So be honest, how "fit" are you?
And what are you doing to keep yourself spiritually fit?

Blessing,
Grace
