MDE Benchmark Assessment Reporting
Return to Learn Dashboard
The team at MiDataHub simplified the process for verifying your current status with the 2021-22 Michigan Assessment Benchmark Reporting Requirement by creating a dashboard found in the Michigan Data Hub cockpit.
  • To access this dashboard you will need to have authorization as a Technical Contact.
  • To access this dashboard, login to the Michigan data hub cockpit and select Features > Return to Learn.
This dashboard has 3 different sections to focus on:

Required - Key Integration status
Please ensure each section has an integration configured which is indicated by a green checkmark.
  1. SIS - Confirms if you have an active Student Information System integration configured.
  2. Assessments - Confirms if you have one of the 4 MDE Identified Assessment integrations configured
  3. Return To Learn - The Return to Learn section will validate if the district has the Aggregate API configured in the MiDataHub cockpit. The aggregate API confirms your district’s participation with the Return to Learn Legislation and allows the Michigan Education Data Center and Educational Policy Innovation Collaborative to compute the aggregates based on the assessment data you have selected to use for this work.
If you plan to use MiDataHub for aggregating the data and this validation check is failing (Red), please review the configuration steps found here to complete the API in the MiDataHub cockpit. Please know this will need to be completed by an authorized user in the MiDataHub cockpit with Technical contact permissions. If you need any assistance with this please contact the support team by sending an email to support@midatahub.org.

Optional - Key Integration status:

Assessments
The Assessments section verifies if an integration exists in the MiDataHub cockpit for one of the 4 MDE-identified assessments. If your district is using one or a combination of the assessments below, please ensure each assessment has an integration configured which is indicated by a green checkmark. If an assessment needs to be configured, please refer to the links below for directions on configuring the integration.

Data Readiness Status
The Data Readiness Section runs numerous checks against baseline and previously established data.

Baseline data calculations (Schools & Students) under the Data Readiness Status Section are based on pre-populated information provided by MiSchool Data. These fields (Schools, Student Count, and Staff)  should be updated at a minimum, annually or if there is a significant change in the district such as a school opening or closing. These parameters should align with data being published to MiDataHub from the Student Information System. This data can be updated in the MiDataHub Cockpit at any time by navigating to the Utilities Pull Down Menu and selecting "District Parameters".
Schools - Baseline: Color-coded based on a percentage of schools that are showing up as published from the Student Information System against the number of schools EEM has populated in the district’s MiDataHub Cockpit.  The baseline data value of Schools can be updated in the MiDataHub cockpit by selecting Utilities > District Parameters.

Students - Baseline: Color-coded based on a percentage of students present in the ODS, based on the Baseline data provided under the DISTRICT PARAMETERS section in the MiDataHub Cockpit. The baseline data value in this section can be updated in the MiDataHub cockpit by selecting Utilities > District Parameters.

Students with NWEA Assessments: If your district has the NWEA integration configured, this parameter will be color-coded based on the total number of students with NWEA assessment results against the total number of students currently published over to MiDataHub from the Student Information system.

Students with Renaissance Star Assessment: If your district has the Renaissance Star integration configured, this parameter will be color-coded based on the total number of students with Acadience assessment results against the total number of students currently published over to MiDataHub from the Student Information system.

Students with i-Ready Assessments: If your district has the i-Ready integration configured, this parameter will be color-coded based on the total number of students with i_Ready assessment results against the total number of students currently published over to MiDataHub from the Student Information system.

Students with DRC Assessments: If your district has the DRC integration configured, this parameter will be color-coded based on the total number of students with i_Ready assessment results against the total number of students currently published over to MiDataHub from the Student Information system.
MDE Benchmark Assessment Reporting
Upcoming Deadlines

November 19, 2021: All integration steps need to be completed in MiDataHub:

1) Ensure the Return to Learn Aggregation has been completed or is still active from the 2020-21 submission in the MiDataHub cockpit. The easiest way to verify this step is to follow one of the steps below:
  • Review the ISD/District status worksheet found at this link. Locate your district, and navigate to Column “R”. This column, RTL Aggregation, will verify if your district has configured this integration. 1- Active/0-Not Active
  • If your district has a 0, please navigate to our product catalog page for the aggregate API by clicking here, and follow the steps on creating this integration in the MiDataHub cockpit.
  • The second option is to login to the Michigan Data Hub cockpit as a technical contact, and select the Features pull down menu, and Return to Learn option. On this screen, verify that the Return to Learn Integration is green and says “1 Passed”. If you need to configure the Aggregate API, navigate to our product catalog page for the aggregate API by clicking here, and follow the steps on creating this integration in the MiDataHub cockpit.
2) Assessment configuration: If your district is planning to use one or more of the 4 MDE-identified assessments (Curriculum Associates i-Ready, NWEA Map, Renaissance Star, and/or the Smarter Balanced Interim Assessments in grades 3-8 and/or the MDE Early Literacy and Mathematics Assessments in grades K-2 offered through DRC) for the 2021-22 benchmark assessment requirement, please verify the integrations have been configured in the MiDataHub cockpit for each, and student data exists. The example below is for NWEA data but is applicable to any of the four assessments:
  • Login to the Michigan Data Hub cockpit as a technical contact, and select the Features pull down menu, and Return to Learn. On this screen under the Data Readiness Status (at bottom of screen) verify student assessment data exists in each assessment as needed for the aggregate to be generated. If no students with assessments exist please contact support@midatahub.org and let us know which assessment is missing student assessment data as it is needed for the 2021-22 benchmark assessment reporting requirement.  Note: The Grade counts are an approximation of the number of students with assessments in each grade level.  Depending on how the data is provided, this may be inflated in some cases.  The most important thing is that students with assessments exist in the expected grade levels.
3) Ensure 2021-22 data has been published from the Student Information System. If your district uses a SIS not capable of integrating with MiDataHub please contact support@midatahub.org for further assistance.
  • Login to the Michigan Data Hub cockpit as a technical contact, and select the Features pull-down menu, and Return to Learn option. On this screen, verify students exist by navigating to the Data Readiness Status at the bottom of the page and verify in the students baseline section that students exists:
December 10, 2021: Data due to MEDC for aggregation from MiDataHub
  • This is the date MEDC will begin pulling data from MiDataHub to generate the aggregates.

SAS EVAAS

Please see the memo below that the team at SAS EVAAS asked us to share:

"The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) has contracted with SAS to provide Value-Added reports for your district or public school academy. All districts and public school academies currently receive District and School Value-Added reports and Student Projection reports. Teacher Value-Added reports are also available to districts and public school academies that provide student-teacher linkages through the Michigan Data Hub (MiDataHub).

If your district or public school academy would like to receive teacher reporting in addition to student enrollment updates and the standard reports for the 2020-21 school year, click https://www.midatahub.org/Core/Stories/Permalink/sas-evaas-for-k-12/ and follow the steps listed below the integration steps to begin the process.

Submitting these student-teacher linkages will allow SAS to provide individual teacher reporting to your district or public school academy. This reporting includes diagnostic information as well as useful, reliable measures of the academic growth that a teacher's students made, on average, in the selected grade and subject or course. This data can help educators reflect on past practices and proactively plan for current and future classes. For opted-in districts and public school academies, teacher accounts will be created for all teachers receiving reports based on information from MiDataHub.

In the 2021-22 school year, SAS will provide teacher reports based on historical state assessments as well as NWEA MAP if sufficient data is available. SAS will also use student enrollment updates so that students appear at their currently enrolled school rather than last tested school.

Go to https://mi.sas.com/contact.html to find information about EVAAS or to contact us.”
