Diocesan Eucharistic Conference
Although it's been overshadowed by COVID, the Catholic Diocese of Richmond is celebrating our Bicentennial this year! The major event connected with the celebration is a Eucharistic Congress, which will take place on Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7. The Eucharistic Congress will be held virtually, but will still include speakers, time for Adoration, and a Eucharistic procession with Bishop Knestout. This is a beautiful way to join with our extended diocesan community for this milestone event. You can register for free at https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/r/week/2020/10/28?tab=mc
In Our Neighborhood
FYI - If you happen to notice cameras, tents, and other filming equipment around the neighborhood this week (especially in the church parking lot), it is due to the filming of some scenes for the TV series Swagger, about the youth basketball experience of Kevin Durant.
Carline Courtesy Reminder
To be a good neighbor, we need everyone in carline to make sure you do not block oncoming traffic on Cleveland Street. It's really important that there is always a lane open for cars to get by. Also, if you can try to keep the alley sidewalk open as well, our neighbors will be grateful. Being a city school, we really do try to be considerate of those living around us and we appreciate your help!

Sign Up by Tuesday for Parent-Teacher Conferences!
|
|
Virtual Parent -Teacher Conferences are planned for Thursday, November 5, from 4pm-7pm and Friday, November 6 from 7:30am-12:00pm.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are not required but are encouraged, especially for students having difficulty in some aspect of their education. For elementary students, we encourage all parents to schedule a conference with your child's homeroom teacher.
Middle school parents do not need to meet with every teacher, only those with whom they feel time is needed. If your child is doing well in all middle school courses and you do not have any concerns, you do not need to schedule a conference. Specials (elective) teachers are not part of the Parent-Teacher Conference days.
If you have questions, please call Pam Autry at (804) 254-8850.
Sign Up Genius will close at noon on Tuesday, November 3.

Do You Have a Sibling to Apply for Next Year?
|
|
Hi Families! This year has certainly been anything but normal - including in our Admissions department! To that end, we are already receiving applications for next year, so I wanted to reach out to you - our current families - and ask that you please let me know if you are planning to have a new sibling apply to join us next fall. Current families do get priority in our admissions process, but you have to apply by our priority admissions deadline of January 31, 2021 to receive that consideration. Right now its just helpful for us to know who we might be able to expect from our families for next year in what is shaping up to be a really busy admissions season. Just email Gretchen at admissions@saintbenedictschool.org to let us know. Thanks!

With the change in weather to cooler temperatures and the uniform change coming after Thanksgiving, your SBCS PTO is offering a second opportunity to purchase PE Uniforms and Spirit Wear for the whole family. This year in honor of our Centennial you can also purchase items with our Centennial logo in addition to the traditional SBCS logo. This is a great opportunity for mom and dad to grab some gear to commemorate the milestone! Now through November 9th you can order your SBCS Team gear! Click here to check it out!
We are also planning for a used uniform swap before the Thanksgiving break. Stay tuned for a date!
Thanks to all of the families and volunteers that came out for our Halloween Movie Night. The rain stayed away and everyone had a blast! We are looking forward to more creative ways to get together as a school community. Stay tuned!!

Virtus Training & Staying Up to Date
|
|
All volunteers who work with or around children MUST have a current background check and completed VIRTUS training. In order to keep your status active with VIRTUS you should read your monthly email bulletins and answer the 1 multiple choice question until you get it right. When your background investigation is about to expire you will get a prompt when you log into VIRUTS to complete a new one.Thank you for all you do and for helping keep our children safe!

Taking Care of our Comet Family

|
Please remember that we are one community that is supportive and respectful. As in any year, from time to time teachers and students may be out of school. Please respect privacy and don't jump to conclusions.Whenever a member of the school community has a confirmed case of COVID-19, we will work with the Diocese and the Health Department to make sure close contacts are notified so they may take appropriate action inline with CDC guidance.
