The Children's Room has the highest use per square foot of any space in the Library.

• Over the past 15 years, the Children's Room has hosted 7131 Children's programs with 274,142 attendees.
• Children's librarians have provided kids and families with 5,986,512 children's books and AV materials.

Meanwhile ...

... more than 9,000 programs have been hosted in the Large Meeting Room; ranging from lectures to cooking, science, gardening and crafts demonstrations.

• An imaginary play area and the blocks, puzzles and other manipulatives that infuse a room with the joy of learning.
• Chairs for reading, tables for crafts, lower shelves for the little ones, and special areas for older children.
• Hallway seating to gather for a snack.
• And speaking of food - a teaching kitchen, plus storage space for the equipment and supplies that make 'maker programs', including STEM activities, possible.

Well-Loved, Well-Worn

The Children's Room is need of updates to service and make it fully accessible to the next generation of Lexington kids, a place of whimsey and welcome.
