NEW: DOT, SBS "Open Storefronts"
|
On Wednesday, October 28th, 2020 the NYC Mayor announced a new "Open Storefronts" program, permitting storefront businesses to use a portion of their sidewalk to display merchandise, sell goods, complete transactions, and provide queuing areas. The program assists existing ground-floor storefront businesses who want to use outdoor areas on a temporary basis.
|
|
Open Storefronts: what can you sell on the sidewalk in the Open Storefronts?
You’re allowed to sell any dry goods you are already licensed to sell indoors. Some items are excluded from outdoor sale, like liquor, tobacco products, pharmaceuticals, and adult content. In addition to businesses engaged in retail trade, repair stores, personal care services, and dry-cleaning and laundry services are able to use outdoor space for seating, queuing, or display of dry goods. The program will begin October 30th and run until December 31st. Sidewalks will be able to be used for this program Mondays –Saturdays 8 a.m.-11 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m.-11 p.m. For the full list of rules and requirements around this program, visit nyc.gov/ openstorefronts

Arts at Loreto Playground in Morris Park, thanks to Bronx NYC Parks and Recreation
The MPBID thanks our amazing colleagues from NYC Parks & Recreation Department for bringing art to Morris Park children on Saturday October 24 at Loreto Playground. Children enjoyed a fall art workshop outdoors, conducted by NY Arts Students League artist Jon Bunge. The MPBID encouraged the young artists with goodie bags of art supplies, sanitizers, masks and sweet treats. We were also honored to receive a visit from the NYC Parks Bronx Borough Commissioner Iris Rodriguez-Rosa. Thank you Bronx Parks Rec!

Safe Halloween Eve at the Morris Park BID
We were happy to create a joyous moment for Morris Park families visiting the MPBID 'pumpkin patch' to pick candy and free pumpkins to decorate at home. Families were invited to share a photo of their decorated pumpkin for a chance to win a gift certificate at any Morris Park Ave store! We thank Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez and News 12TheBronx for the surprise visits and extra candy! The event was featured on the evening news on October 30, 2020.

Thank you to the Bronx Times for keeping the Bronx informed and for
