In 1990, a crude oil spill inspired the creation of the Oiled Wildlife Care Network. More than 30 years later, the OWCN is leading the response effort for another spill in the same area.
The new California Veterinary Emergency Team, administered by UC Davis, will support and train a network to aid domestic animals and livestock during emergencies.
New budget legislation will include $45 million in support for homeless animals, which will be administered by the Koret Shelter Medicine Program.
