January 25-31: MSBOA High School Solo & Ensemble Festival

REGISTRATION:

● December 15, 2020 - January 13, 2021

● Done through Opus Events 

COST:

● All events are $10, paid online through Opus Events

● Payment link will arrive in parents' email 7-10 days after the event is registered

FESTIVAL FORMAT:

● All students will upload their recorded events to Opus Events

● No ensemble recordings will be uploaded through other platforms

● Students have *one time* to record with a pause to their recording only after that section of the event is completed (ex: proficiency students must perform the solo all the way through, then may pause before recording the scales, etc.)

PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT:

● An accompaniment is encouraged, but not required this year

● Students’ ratings will not be affected by an accompaniment

RATINGS:

● Students will receive ratings and comments from adjudicators

● Adjudicators will record feedback and comments after listening one time to the recording

LITERATURE:

● Literature performed must be performed by one of the approved publishers from the Publisher list found on the MSBOA website

● If the publisher is not on the approved website, the director may contact that publisher for approval and must email approval documentation

● Students must present the original score to the judge at the beginning of their recording

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: there will not be a separate District and State S&E this year, so students in grades 10-12 have the option of taking a proficiency solo (with scales and sight-reading).

- 10th graders may take proficiency I

- 11th graders may take proficiency I or II

- 12th graders may take proficiency I, II, or III

** Due to COVID restrictions and in the interest of health/safety, the GPPSS Music Department will only register solos or small ensembles (duets, trios, quartets) of siblings who live in the same household. **
