We hope that you are well. As libraries across the region begin to reopen or resume services, we invite you to join us online for some upcoming webinars. 


  • CDLC’s Member MeetUp on Monday August 10 from 2:00-3:00 pm will focus on reopening plans.


We continue to update the Plans and Guidance on Reopening for the Capital District on our COVID-19 LibGuide. You can share your reopening status using the form on this reopening status table.
A valuable resource: The Ask the Lawyer service responds to many questions related to COVID-19 .

We have resumed library tours: Thank you to Anne Rappaport at the Dwight Marvin Library at Hudson Valley Community College and Marietta Carr at the Schenectady County Historical Association Museum and Library for serving as virtual tour guides and sharing information about their libraries!

Interest group meetings have been scheduled , and upcoming meetings include a Preservation Interest Group meeting on August 11 focused on library security , and a discussion about the film Change the Subject: A documentary about labels, libraries and activism at the Cataloging and Technical Services Interest Group meeting on August 26.
Collections
As you begin or continue to process your physical collections, we remind you to monitor the Reopening Archives, Libraries and Museums (REALM) Project for guidance on the safe handling of library materials and to sign up for their mailing list.

NYLA’s Academic & Special Libraries Section has been conducting a series of short interviews with librarians from various special libraries. Learn more about their collections, clients, and daily operations. Hannah Cox, the Archivist/Librarian at the Albany Institute for History & Art Library, will be speaking on Monday August 24 from 11:00-11:30 am . Read about the series and register here.

Congratulations to Kristina Graves , School Librarian at Schenectady High School, for being elected to a NYLA Councilor-at-Large position.

Several members were recently awarded Humanities NY Grants . Congratulations to Albany County Historical Association, Albany Institute of History and Art, Irish American Heritage Museum and the Hart-Cluett Museum/Rensselaer County Historical Society . Read more here.
