OCEANSIDE COMMUNITY RESOURCES
Some Oceanside residents are still experiencing work furloughs, unemployment, or reduced hours. There are many resources in our community to help. Aside from food resources below, the City has collaborated with local non-profits to help those impacted by COVID-19 for emergency rent assistance and other needs.

The City operates three neighborhood Community Resource Centers. Staff there can help you access the services you need.

County Assistance Programs

The San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency also administers several programs that help families and individuals. Please refer to the County website for more information.

FOOD RESOURCES
The City of Oceanside has provided over $1.1 Million in food resources to the community since March, with more on the way.  In addition to the initial partnership with Oceanside Kitchen Collaborative and local restaurants of over $600,000 to provide hot meals, the City funded a collaboration with regional farmers for $200,000 to provide over 570 farm fresh vegetable boxes each week, distributed through City Community Resource Centers.

An additional $100,000 will be contracted with Oceanside Kitchen Collaborative next week to provide cold and hot meals to youth, beginning the week of December 20. These "gap meals" for youth will be distributed at John Landes Park, Melba Bishop Recreation Center, and Crown Heights Resource Center while Oceanside Unified School District is on break through January 13.

Additionally, the City contracts with Serving Seniors to provide two hot meals per day to qualified Oceanside seniors, seven days per week. Since the pandemic began, they have made over 7,250 home deliveries.

Vista Community Clinic has also been providing meals at Libby Lake Resource Center and Balderrama Park through donations from Feeding San Diego.

Veterans Association of North County has been distributing food and diapers to veterans and their families monthly (registration required).

An additional effort will be taken to the City Council on January 6 to appropriate nearly $300,000 to further fund food resources to food insecure Oceanside households. The allocation will encompass youth, families and seniors for fresh foods as well as hot meals. Contact one of the Community Resource Centers for details and visit the City's COVID-related Resources webpage.
EMERGENCY HOUSING & UTILITY RELIEF
City staff have been working with residents impacted by the COVID-19 regulations. As of late November, the City has provided over $4.4 Million in aid through emergency rent and utility assistance, hotel/motel vouchers, and increased subsidies for Section 8 recipients for tenants who lost portions of income due to COVID.

If you are a resident of Oceanside in need of emergency rental assistance, we have contracted with CRC's Integrative Services Offices to help those who qualify. Please call (760) 300-3238, email housingnavigation@crcncc.org, or call the City's Housing Division at (760) 435-3360.

A BIT OF GOOD CHEER: Oceanside Senior Services staff delivered over 220 holiday gift boxes and poinsettia's this week to Oceanside seniors in their programs. The Senior Services team, along with Parks and Recreation staff, Oceanside Serving Seniors Nutrition Services, and Oceanside youth all contributed to the surprise. The GO Oceanside transportation program assisted with the delivery. Special thanks to the Beach Break Café, Oceanside Agri Services, Oceanside Kitchen Collaborative, and CFH Graphic Design & Production for helping with some of the supplies!
