MFGA ANNOUNCES 2022 MFGA BOARD EXECUTIVE
December 08, 2021 (Winnipeg, MB) – The Board of Directors of the Manitoba Forage and Grassland Association (MFGA) has recently approved the 2022 MFGA Board Executive. MFGA also recently welcomed two new board members: Chelsi Malach of Hartney, MB and Peter Tokar of the Swan River area at our 2021 MFGA AGM.

The MFGA executive will serve two-year terms at the helm of the organization’s board of directors.

Lawrence Knockaert: Chair
Lawrence dairy farms with wife Kim and son Shawn and Jasmin in the Bruxelles, MB area. Lawrence is also a director on the Dairy Farmers of Manitoba as well as the MFGA board representative on the Manitoba Beef and Forage Initiatives and is looking forward to working as chair of the Manitoba Forage and Grassland Association. Lawrence was vice-chair for MFGA previous to the chair assignment.

Michael Duguid: Vice-Chair
Mike farms in partnership with wife Cheryl and son Scott and family in the Arnes area, north of Gimli in Manitoba’s Interlake. The Duguid farm is a mixed operation, having pedigreed grass and alfalfa seed, a cow calf operation, and grain. The Duguid’s have a great interest in the regenerative approach and are on their seventh year of regen farming and are constantly learning, finding no two years are the same, which, says Mike, always makes their farm life interesting.

Andrea Hamilton: Finance Chair
Andrea is part of the next generation taking over the Hamilton family’s Fair Valley Farm Ventures, a cow calf operation north of Glenboro, MB along with brother Liam who farms with their parents Cam and Shelley. Andrea works off farm in potato research at MHPEC. Andrea joined MFGA in 2016 as an apprentice while she was finishing University. Andrea has taken the Soil Health Academy course and is currently taking Dr. Elaine’s Soil Food Web course.

Larry Wegner: Past Chair (one year term)
Larry farms in the Virden, MB area with wife Rosemary and sons Max and Herbert. After joining the MFGA Board from the board of the Manitoba Beef Producers, Larry served a full term that culminated with a two year term as MFGA Chair, concluded in November 2021. Larry recently attended Nicole Masters Integrity Soils leadership mentoring where he is now certified as a coach in the Integrity Soils network. Larry will serve one year as the MFGA past chair, assisting the new executive with transition.
