Statesmen High Five
Let's recognize our amazing teachers!

The GCM PTSA is proud to announce that Mr. Alan Altschuler is the first winner of the Statesmen High Five gift card. Mr. Altschuler was nominated for the time he makes for students, his ability to apply challenging math concepts to real-life, and for his desire to have all of his students succeed.

In all, 56 nominations were received in December. Seniors submitted the most nominations with Juniors close behind. GCM teacher qualities most appreciated in December were thoughtfulness, positivity, engagement, and demonstrating they want all of their students to succeed.

We LOVE honoring the work of the amazing teachers at GCM. Please keep those nominations coming!

Submit Your Own Yearbook Photo by Friday

Due to the unusual circumstances of this school year, we know that not all students were able to have their school photos taken. Therefore, to ensure that as many students as possible have the opportunity to appear in the yearbook, we are excited to offer families the ability to send in their own portraits instead.
(Note: If your student already had a photo taken at school, you can disregard this message. We'll receive your student's portrait directly from the photography company.)
This new system is available to all families regardless of which grade a student is in!
If you'd like to submit a portrait, please follow the steps below:
  1. Visit http://tinyurl.com/gcmshare.
  2. Provide your name and contact info.
  3. Click the big green button that says, "Click here to upload a student portrait."
  4. Follow the directions to upload, crop, and submit your photo.
Photos must be from the current school year and should include only your student. Photos must be uploaded by January 15, 2021 in order to appear in the yearbook.
As you look for the best photo to send in, please make note of the following submission guidelines:
  • Color photos only; plain/neutral background preferred.
  • Full face view, facing forward. Waist-up poses are ideal. (Avoid hands near the face or knees/legs blocking the body.)
  • Clothing and jewelry must fit FCPS dress code guidelines and is encouraged to be free of words or images. Please refer to p. 15 of the Student Rights and Responsibilities handbook.
  • No props (e.g. sports equipment, musical instruments, pets, or other items).
  • No weapons or hand signs of any kind.
  • No creative filters or photographic treatments. No name or date stamps.
Please remember that photos must be uploaded no later than January 15, 2021. Submissions will be reviewed to ensure they follow the guidelines above.
If you have any questions, please contact our yearbook adviser, Mr. Reinish, at dereinish@fcps.edu. You may also wish to view this helpful video tutorial: https://herffjones.wistia.com/medias/qaz0mrbp43 p;
