Update on WI Lodging Grant Program
October 27, 2020
Dear WH&LA Members,

The Wisconsin Department of Administration today released a list of questions and answers about the lodging grant program that will be distributing $20 million to Wisconsin’s lodging properties impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The deadline to apply has also been extended to Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 2:00pm. Apply at the COVID 19 Lodging Grant Program Website.

Highlights from the Q&A document indicate that:
  • The program is only open to “licensed hotels, motels and bed and breakfasts”. It is our understanding that many resorts are licensed through DATCP or your local health department under a hotel/motel license, please check your license for eligibility.
  • Properties that rely on large events and meetings may also qualify for the COVID-19 Live Music and Entertainment Venue Grant Program ,which has the same deadline on Thursday. Be sure to read through the eligibility requirements (i.e. must generate 33% or more of its revenue through direct ticket sales or direct event charges for the production or presentation of live music, other entertainment or large conventions and meetings.) While you can apply for both grant programs, if you receive an award for the Live Music & Entertainment Venue program, any award may impact what you receive from the lodging program.
  • Change of ownership does not disqualify a property that was owned and operated by another entity.
  • Unlike many of the other state grant programs, there is not a revenue limit to qualify for under the lodging grant program.

With the deadline of Thursday at 2:00pm quickly approaching, we suggest that qualifying member properties submit your applications as soon as possible.

King Regards,
