The Golden Cross Award:
The Golden Cross Award is presented to two students a month who exemplify our school motto to be “Stewards for Christ” by using all the gifts that God has given to them, both natural and supernatural, in service to God and others.

The Golden Cross, which these students will wear during this next month, is the greatest symbol of the love Jesus has for us, and His mission, which he expressed in the words “I did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give my life as a ransom for many.” It is Jesus that we seek to imitate through a life of grace and virtue. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

After careful consideration of all nominations submitted, Chase Shively and Kara Van Woerkom were chosen to receive the Golden Cross Award. Please find here the nominations for both students:

Chase Shively shows the virtues of kindness and prudence. He will always do anything to make someone’s day great and looks on the bright side of things, even though it is hard for people sometimes. He will cheer someone up if they are sad, and he will boost their confidence by saying “Good Job” and “You are really good at that.” He treats others how he would like to be treated! He is also prudent because he does his homework before anything else and he always does the right thing.

Kara Van Woerkom shows the virtues of friendship and kindness. From the first day I met her she has always been an incredibly kind person. She always puts others first, makes you laugh, and knows how to cheer you up. She never gets in fights with other people. I love the way she smiles and can easily brighten someone else’s day. She is a great teammate in the sports we play together and is a great friend. When you are in the hallway she will always give you a smile and say “hello.”
Carpool:
Morning Carpool - adoration/church line: There is some confusion regarding where it is okay to let children out of the car. It is allowable to let your children out starting at the sidewalk in front of the elevator entrance. This area is visible to the carpool monitor that directs traffic. The carpool monitor needs to be able to see when children are done unloading and it is safe to allow the cars to advance.

Any carpool line: Please, do not park to the side and allow your children to get out of the car outside of the carpool lanes. This causes them to have to walk through moving traffic which is not safe.

Please note that the tardy bell rings at 7:45am. Your child(ren) are expected to be in their classroom (& depending on the teacher, at their desk ready to learn) by 7:45am. Most cars arrive for carpool between 7:35-7:45. Very few cars arrive between 7:15-7:35. We recommend leaving home just 5-10 minutes earlier in the morning to prevent back-ups.

Community Update:
This week (Feb 3 - Feb 9) we have had 0 new positive cases.

Thank you for being prudent and keeping children that are exhibiting symptoms of any kind home from school. The front office is always willing to talk through scenarios with you since every family dynamic is unique.
