Fraud Email Alert
We continue to receive reporting of fraudulent emails from someone claiming to be Bishop Russell asking for immediate help for some sort of task or favor.

As a reminder, diocesan staff emails, including Bishop Russell's will come from an @diocgc.org email address.

If you receive a suspicious email claiming to be from Bishop Russell or any other diocesan staff, and would like to report it, please send an email to communications@diocgc.org, or use one of the methods listed below.
Religious organizations are commonly targets of such scams, phishing, whaling, and smishing (text messages) attacks by using impersonation tactics to take advantage of unsuspecting people. The best way to combat these types of attacks is to check the sender's email address or phone number, and confirm requests with a conversation. Do not click on any links or reply to the message if you have any suspicion the email or text is fraudulent.

What you can do about fraudulent emails:
For Gmail Users

There is a way for gmail users to report suspicious phishing emails to Google. Here is how:
  • On a computer, open your gmail.
  • Open the suspicious email [do not click any links within the email]
  • Next to the reply arrow, find and click the three vertical dots
  • From the list of options, select "report phishing."

Thank you.
