Summer Reading with Wildlife Encounters on the Library Lawn
Tuesday, July 19 at 2:30 PM on the Library Lawn

Join us for a live-animal presentation by Wildlife Encounters Ecology Center. Come take an imaginary safari - meet animals and learn how they adapted to a changing world. Maybe we'll see a macaw, a wallaby or a giant tortoise. Fun for the whole family. We'll meet on the library lawn - bring a blanket. If it rains or is too hot - we'll meet in the old Town Hall across the street.

Sponsored by the Friends of the West Newbury Library

How do horseshoe crabs, least tern, ribbed mussels, and people interact on the coastline? Explore best practices when combing the beach in search of wildlife clues and leave with recommendations from Mass Audubon Teacher-Naturalists on the best places to explore.

An Evening with Bestselling Author B.A. Shapiro discussing her new book, Metropolis: A Novel
Wednesday, July 27 at 7:00 PM

New York Times Bestselling author B.A.Shapiro will be interviewed by Gary Braver, a bestselling and award-winning author of eight critically acclaimed mysteries and medical thrillers in this Zoom webinar.

The author of The Art Forger delivers a spellbinding and moving novel about what we hang on to, what we might need to let go, and how unexpected events can lead us to deeper truths. Six people, six secrets, six different backgrounds. They would never have met if not for their connection to the Metropolis Storage Warehouse in Cambridge, Massachusetts. When someone falls down an elevator shaft at the facility, each becomes caught up in an intensifying chain of events. Taut and emotional, Metropolis is impossible to put down and impossible to forget.
Learn more about B.A. HERE.

Going On Around Town
Check out the new Page School Playground
This project was supported by a vote of Town Meeting in June 2020, and funded by Community Preservation Act funds. The community’s main focus for this project was to create an inclusive playground that welcomes all types of users. As part of the design process, the community received hundreds of concept drawings and ideas from students in Page School Grades K-6. We look forward to seeing this playground become a gathering place for families and friends to play for many years to come.

Thank you for reading. We welcome your comments and suggestions!
