CSM Campers Overcome Their Fears on our Zip Line
|
|
We are pleased to share with our CSM family that we have been blessed with a $2,500 grant from the Catholic Foundation of Michigan to replace our zip line.
We are truly grateful to the Catholic Foundation of Michigan and all those who support it. Thanks to your generosity, you are helping us keep Camp Sancta Maria safe for all of the children and grandchildren who visit us each summer.
Our zip line is a highlight of the more than 20 elements of our ropes course, all of which are inspected for safety each year before our campers arrive.
On our ropes course, CSM campers confront and overcome emotional, physical, and intellectual challenges. They grow individually as they gain confidence, overcome fears, and learn more about themselves. They also grow as a team as they encourage each other in their efforts and work together.
The purpose of the zip line is not just to make sure the kids have a chance to fly through the air--even though that's pretty cool, right?! The training they undergo before experiencing the zip line empowers our campers to use clear and consistent communication, set personal goals, confront and overcome fears, and rely on community for support and guidance. These lessons and processes translate into our walk as a disciple of Christ. Click HERE to learn more about CSM's ropes course.
The Catholic Foundation of Michigan is building the framework to support a thriving Catholic community in southeast Michigan long into the future. By inspiring faith-filled charitable giving and managing assets to provide perpetual funding to Catholic schools, parishes, and ministries--including an endowment for CSM--they work in partnership with generous donors to make a lasting and meaningful impact with their gifts. Click HERE for more information about the Catholic Foundation of Michigan.
Thank you, Catholic Foundation of Michigan and all who support it with their generous donations, for helping us keep our ropes course safe for the children and grandchildren who attend CSM!

CSM Alumnus Charles Conklin
|
|
Please join us as we remember CSM alumnus Charles Conklin who died on January 6, 2021.
Charles was one of our original campers from back in the 1930's, having also worked with Bishop Thomas Gumbleton at Camp. Our mission now is the same as it was back when Charles attended CSM: to let God meet the deepest needs of today’s youth by forming and transforming young lives in a beautiful northern Michigan setting.
Charles enjoyed Camp so much that he sent his sons, Bill and Chick, to CSM. Chick is also actively involved in fundraising for scholarships to Camp, thanks to the generosity of the Dads Club, the Ushers Club, and the Knights of Columbus Council #4064 out of St. William Parish in Walled Lake. Chick was also the recipient of our Thomas Bean Award in 2001, in recognition of his fundraising efforts for Camp.
We speak often of the many lifelong friendships that are fostered among our campers at CSM, and the Conklin family are a great example of this. Because of the positive influence CSM has had on their family for so many years, they have requested that donations in their father's memory be made to Camp Sancta Maria. Online donations in memory of Charles may be made by clicking on the donate button below.
Eternal rest grant unto Charles, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

We Are Grateful for Your Prayers
and Your Financial Support
|

CSM is held in a trust governed by an independent Board of Trustees. While the Archdiocese of Detroit had generously donated the services of one its priests for decades, they are not responsible for CSM financially. This means that we are responsible to secure our own funding to advance the mission that has been passed down to us since our founding in 1933. To continue this essential work, we need your help. Are you feeling called to donate? Thank you for your prayerful consideration!
