Gratitude & Charity
As we near the end of 2021, we find ourselves reflecting on all that we are thankful for. At the very top of a long list is a deep respect and gratitude for the communities in which we live and work. We are grateful that our stores in Manchester and Saratoga Springs are part of vibrant communities that sustain, support, and embrace us. The vitality and survival of our bookstores are due to the strength of our communities, and we appreciate all the support we receive from our friends, neighbors, and visitors every day.
For decades under the Morrow family leadership, the Northshire Bookstore has been prominent in supporting and donating to charitable organizations in our communities. As the newest stewards, our family considers this an important part of our ongoing mission, and we take this commitment seriously.
In 2021 we have proudly supported over 100 important charitable organizations and non-profits. These organizations are critically important to the safety and well-being of our communities both near and far. Through our customer-backed Round-Up program, with direct cash grants, donations, and in-kind contributions, we are proud to support these worthy charities. A partial list of recipients so far this year is below.
We are grateful for the dedication of our amazing staff and partners. We could not do this important work without the tremendous commitment and hard work of our entire staff. In addition to the wonderful recommendations of our patrons and community partners, we are also pleased to have our 60+ staff members each designate individual charities that the Northshire Bookstore should support with additional donations. We are thrilled to be able to make these donations in the names of our dedicated staff members.
As we reflect on the blessings of 2021, we want to sincerely thank you for helping us support vital charities in our communities and for your patronage of our independent bookstores
Best,
Clark & Lu

From the author of the classic A Little Life—a bold, brilliant novel spanning three centuries and three different versions of the American experiment, about lovers, family, loss and the elusive promise of utopia.
In an alternate version of 1893 America, New York is part of the Free States, where people may live and love whomever they please (or so it seems). The fragile young scion of a distinguished family resists betrothal to a worthy suitor, drawn to a charming music teacher of no means. In a 1993 Manhattan besieged by the AIDS epidemic, a young Hawaiian man lives with his much older, wealthier partner, hiding his troubled childhood and the fate of his father. And in 2093, in a world riven by plagues and governed by totalitarian rule, a powerful scientist’s damaged granddaughter tries to navigate life without him—and solve the mystery of her husband’s disappearances.
