In Memoriam: Leslie Wilson
Many in Saskatchewan's cultural community are mourning the passing of Leslie Anne Wilson, a Nakota Cree woman from White Bear First Nation. Leslie was involved for many years as a volunteer assessor for SaskCulture funding programs, as an Indigenous Arts Consultant for SK-Arts, and as a friend and relative to many. SaskCulture was proud to support her work at Kahkewistahaw First Nation through the Aboriginal Culture and Leadership program; her work there helped restore traditional and cultural worldviews in First Nations’ communities and families by welcoming babies into the world grounded in the warmth and calm of traditional cultural practices. SaskCulture extends its condolences to her family, community and relations - her contributions to culture are significant and lasting - we are grateful for the time she spent with us.
