First Georgia now Texas! The left is absolutely howling about how any effort to strengthen election integrity is, in fact, "suppression." Well we know this isn't true and thankfully we have people like Hans von Spakovsky out there to set the record straight. You can learn a little more about Hans and his research HERE.
Mr. Von Spakovsky is a Senior Legal Fellow at the Heritage Foundation and uses facts and grounded research to destroy the lefts narrative about "voter suppression." One has to wonder why Democrats are so afraid of laws that ensure the sanctity of the vote!

This week was a parade of victories for conservative lawmakers as they championed several issues that are important to all Texans. In two days alone, the Texas House had the most conservative session in the history of the chamber as it passed bills on pro-life, public safety, education, and election integrity.
In the two sessions on Wednesday and Thursday, the members logged nearly 30 hours of work that was wrapped up procedurally on Friday.
The week's haul included passing:

The Texas House is less than a week away from its deadline to have House Bills heard on 2nd Reading on the House Floor. Any House Bill that has not been passed to engrossment (3rd Reading) by Thursday, May 13th will be dead. However, the process still allows for policy ideas to be passed via Senate Bills and the amendments process.

A "Catastrophic" Jobs Report in April – All Thanks to Joe Biden’s Policies
In April, the US Economy added just 266,000 jobs, a “disappointing” and “shocking” underperformance from the 1 million jobs economists had expected. Joe Biden is failing the American working class by squandering the economic recovery he inherited from President Trump and a Republican Congress.

The unemployment rate rose in April for the first time during the recovery to 6.1 percent.

The economy added just 266,000 jobs, which is well below economists’ expectations of 1 million jobs and the biggest miss in decades.
- Biden’s far-left policies are halting what was a robust economic recovery.

American workers and businesses are still struggling to recover, and families are facing rising prices for many staples like gas and even toilet paper.
The bottom line:
As American workers and businesses are still struggling to recover, and as families are facing rising prices, the last things we need are Biden’s radical $3 trillion tax hike and his $6 trillion government spending spree. April’s jobs report is a sad reminder that Biden’s liberal policies are failing American workers and American families.

Kids Should be Back in School
When Joe and Jill Biden visited a class of 5th graders this week, they got an earful from one student, who told them: “I didn’t like virtual [learning] … it was terrible.” Unfortunately, thousands of students across the country are still stuck in that “terrible” situation, and Joe Biden is to blame.
- After promising to open our nation’s schools and put children first, Joe Biden has spent his first 100 days in office putting special interests first.
- The science on reopening our schools is abundantly clear.

The CDC has concluded that community spread of COVID-19 in schools is low, and that children only need to be three feet apart to remain safe.
- But the Biden Administration is putting special interests first.
- A new bombshell report shows emails between Biden’s CDC and the powerful American Federation of Teachers (AFT) directly influencing CDC guidance on reopening schools.
- The special interest group even made language suggestions for the CDC’s school reopening guidelines – language which the CDC “adopted nearly verbatim” into their final document.

Before he took office, Biden vowed to reopen America’s schools in his first 100 days.
- 100 days has passed and tens of thousands of kids still aren’t back in school – another broken promise for Biden.

Now, Biden isn’t even committing to fully reopening schools this fall.
- The Biden Administration has mixed messaging on reopening schools. Just over the past few days:

White House Adviser Anita Dunn refused to back reopening schools by FALL and dodged when asked if Biden would stand up to Democrat special interest groups making unscientific demands.

Jill Biden refused to call on teachers to allow schools to reopen, claiming that “it depends.” An educator should know better.
The bottom line:
Just 54% of elementary and middle schools are open for full, in-person learning – a measly 8% improvement from January. The Biden Administration is failing our kids, all in service of their powerful teacher union donors and political allies. It’s long past time the Biden Administration follows the science and reopens our schools. Our students and families deserve better.
What we’re reading:
Biden’s Border Crisis is Threatening American Communities
The Biden Administration is refusing to admit there is a serious crisis on our border, probably because their policies are to blame. But American citizens living in border communities know the truth: this crisis is dangerously unsustainable. President Trump and Republicans’ border policies made our nation safe. Biden should take this crisis seriously.
- Illegal migrants are surging to the border in record numbers as a direct result of Biden’s policies.

Crime and dangerous high speed pursuits are becoming commonplace, as smuggling operations leave Americans living in border communities terrified and frustrated.

The border crisis is not under control. Even Democrat representatives are rebuking Biden’s gaslighting attempts to say otherwise.
- In a stunning reversal, Joe Biden decided to raise the refugee cap to 62,500 for this fiscal year, bowing to pressure from the far-left wing of his party.
- Biden and his border manager, Kamala Harris, are STILL refusing to visit the border.
The bottom line:
Biden created this crisis, and now he’s refusing to fix it, despite the harm it’s causing to American communities near the border and across the country. Biden must take responsibility, visit the border, and finally deliver solutions to the communities he has abandoned since taking office.
