“We are not all in the same boat. We are all in the same storm. Some of us are on super-yachts. Some have just the one oar." -Damian Barr
Throughout this very challenging year people keep saying, "we are all in the same boat". We are NOT “all in the same boat”; we are ALL in the same storm, but not in the same boat during this storm.

Everyone, has faced obstacles of some sort during 2020, be it COVID, mental wellness issues due to isolation, barriers to healthcare, job loss/changes, social unrest, increased distrust of government, (insert yours here), etc., etc., etc. While these issues are familiar to everyone, they are not experienced in the same way by everyone.

However, there is something everyone can do to help lighten the load…BE KIND…to EVERYONE you meet. Because we have ALL been challenged in some way, we can ALL have an impact with kindness. So, hold that door, let that car merge into traffic, share that smile, or say hello to a stranger; whatever is within your capability.

As the saying goes “it might not change the world, but it might change their world” and it will make you feel better about yours.
So, the question is:
how will you change the world with kindness?

The election’s over. It’s time to unclench our fists and open our ears.
By Nita Lelyveld November 14, 2020
Do you despair about the divisions laid bare in the recent election? Do you worry that our tendency to demonize those who don’t vote the way we do will keep us from moving forward as a country?
I’ve been feeling that way a lot recently — relieved that a message of “us versus them” soon will no longer emanate from our White House but distressed by the failure of our Washington lawmakers to come together on just about anything due to the overpoliticization of just about everything, down to the dangers of this brutal pandemic. Read the full article here.

Donations
Needed for Christmas Dinner for Seniors
Donations needed for Senior Assisted Living Facility Christmas Meal
Park Hill Assisted Living (PHAL) in Denver’s Park Hill neighborhood, provides supported living services to seniors with very limited incomes, most of whom have no family. Due to COVID restrictions residents of PHAL have not been allowed visitors or to leave the facility for most of the year. At the Table Colorado has been working with them donating Common Thread Face Masks and Cheer Cards to lift spirits.
ATTC is providing a traditional Holiday Dinner for them to let them know that they are not forgotten. Our goal is to raise $450 to purchase Sam’s Club gift cards for the staff to buy fresh turkey, ham, pies, etc. (at 45 people that is just $10 per person for Christmas dinner.) Since many PHAL residents have dietary restrictions, allowing the staff to shop and prepare the meal is the safest and easiest way meet their needs.
This is truly a community effort to share Holiday cheer with lonely seniors to let them know they are not forgotten. Penny’s Blankets is generously providing each Park Hill resident with a gift blanket.

Common Threads Volunteers

Your masks have helped nonprofits across Colorado and beyond. Thousands of masks have been donated to nonprofits, home healthcare workers, seniors, the immunocompromised and frontline workers.

Masks are still needed and will be for some time to come, so if you have a machine and would like to help, please email:

Cheer Cards
for Seniors

Seniors, disabled and the immunocomprimised countless others across the US are quarantined in nursing homes and care facilities due to COVID. Family and friends are not allowed in for face to face visits so ATTC is partnering with other organizations to send Cheer Cards with word search puzzles and other stimulating activities.
