Hi, Patricia,

Kimberly Stewart, who will be leading our Monday Success Team by Phone (grab that last spot!), just forwarded this to me. I knew you would want to see it.

Kimberly is throwing a 90-minute Idea Party on Wednesday evening. That’s Wednesday afternoon for you folks in Alaska and Hawaii, Thursday middle of the night in Europe, Thursday morning in Australia, Thursday afternoon in New Zealand. If you follow her link below, EventBrite should tell you exactly when wherever you are. It’s 8 to 9:30 pm in New York if you want to look it up.

It’s Kimberly, with Be Weird Make Money. Whether we met at a live or online event, a previous Success Team, you signed up for one-on-one time with me, or we have yet to meet, HELLO! I am a Registered Barbara Sher Success Team Leader, a Changing Course consultant specializing in small business ideas and a weirdo who is altogether too into Halloween!

Join us this Wednesday for an Impromptu Idea Party!

As F. Scott Fitzgerald said, “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.”

Between the change of seasons this week and a new batch of Success Teams starting soon, it got me thinking it would be a perfect time for a jolly brainstorming session!

I know it may seem super short notice,
but I decided to run one on Zoom.
This Wednesday night...
...because— WHY NOT?!

If you’ve been sitting with a Wish and have an Obstacle to blast through, it is time to bring it forth to give it a lot of love so you can get started right away on this next chapter of life.

If you’ve heard about Idea Parties, but haven’t been to one yet, and are curious what all the fuss is about, it is time for you to find out!

However, I need to limit the number of attendees to 50, so I’m asking that you go to Eventbrite to register for a free ticket. Here is the link:

What Is an Idea Party?

An Idea Party is a phenomenon created by Barbara Sher to help people blast through Obstacles that are keeping them from getting closer to their Wishes and dreams. Typically, they come towards the end of a Success Team (another of Barbara’s genius creations) where folks have identified their goals and have actively been working toward them, and the Idea Party kind of leapfrogs them forward and keeps their momentum going.

Here are the basics: We plan on about 4-6 people, one at a time, sharing a wish or obstacle with the group and everyone jumps in with suggestions. Each person gets a *total* of 10 minutes, which includes their sharing and the suggestions. So, if you’d like to be one of the folks sharing keep in mind the more succinct you can be in your ask, the more help you can receive. I’ve seen people take almost 8 minutes to share their story, only to have the timer go off 2 minutes into them getting help. Don’t be that person!

When the Party is happening at the end of a Success Team, everyone on the team takes a turn, but once we get done with them, we give the rest of the attendees the opportunity to take the stage. This stand-alone Idea Party will be like that.

I will take 4-6 people ahead of time to sign up to make sure they get a chance to share. If you’d like to claim a spot, email me at kimberly@beweirdmakemoney.com to do so. After that, it will be a free for all! I have allotted 90-minutes for the event and we will make the best use of our time. I’m guessing we’ll get about 7-8 wishes worked on.

The format of asking for help with your Wish and Obstacle is this: “I want ________________________, but I can’t because ____________________________.” So, if you’d like to share, start practicing how you want to fill in those blanks. (You can email me for help on this if you’d like!)

Another way Idea Parties have happened is on Twitter. Here’s the description Patty created for the Twitter Idea Party (it was so good; I didn’t want to mess with it!):

If you’ve taken part in the Barbara’s Club Idea Party or Barbara’s Facebook Idea Party, it’s just like those, but it moves a lot faster, at times even faster an in-person Idea Party. People list a wish of theirs and one of the obstacles to making it come true, and you get to toss out every idea you can come up with for getting around that obstacle.

Perhaps you got past that same obstacle or know how someone else did. Or you know where to find helpful information about getting around it on the internet. Maybe you know someone who could help. But if not, just start tossing out ideas from your imagination, because no matter how crazy it is, someone else will be inspired to improve on it. There’s no criticism allowed, so let your wonderful creativity go wild and have some fun.

If you are the person with a wish and an obstacle, when you get a crazy idea like, “You could probably get some press for your business launch if you parachute into a parking lot with your hair on fire,” you find something you like about it—maybe “I think that would definitely get picked up in the local papers, maybe even the TV news”—and add “What do we do about” and the part you don’t care for, like “What do we do about the risk to the parachute and my life?” Now, everyone else has a new obstacle to overcome: how to make a dramatic helicopter landing without risking sudden death, and you might come up with something so incredibly wonderful that none of you working alone would ever have thought of.

Any wish or obstacle is allowed, the more specific, the better, with one exception. You may not use your lack of money as an obstacle. Nobody ever made a wish come true by stacking up piles of cash. Your real obstacle is having no access to whatever it is you think you could buy to make your wish come true. And you can often get that without spending a lot of money you don’t have.

If you love to let your creativity run, if you have spent a lifetime gathering information that’s usually useless but might someday help someone (like me), or if you have a wish you need some help with, please do join us. The more wishes and ideas, the more fun we all have.

If you’ve heard about Success Teams and are on the fence about whether they’d be a good fit for you and your wish, come to this Zoom Idea Party and see how the magic happens!

What’s nice about the Zoom party is that with the chat feature, it can be kind of like the Twitter party, in that, if you don’t get a chance to give suggestions to the person who is asking in the time frame of while they are asking (or you are shy about speaking in front of others), you can type in your answers! I’ll make sure to save the chat and email it to everyone who shows up. There is sure to be GOLD in the chat!
