Snow, fabulous snow!!
Parking lot faux pas ...
Apologies to everyone and anyone who got stuck in our parking lots after the heavy snowfall on the January 9th weekend. It caught us off guard in several ways. Our volunteer Board will reviewing operating procedures and equipment at the next meeting on January 19th. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Lodge, Rentals & Adult Lessons - everything's a go!
Now that we have survived the big chill and have buckets of new snow, we can finally launch our ski and snowshoe rentals, plus classic and skate ski lessons! Dates and times are posted on an ongoing basis so check back often. Lessons are a great way to build confidence and fully embrace our wonderful life long sport! Also happy to report that lodge hours are back to normal after the holidays with Lodge Attendants available on weekend afternoons.
Meet Dallal - our new Operations Coordinator!
Our Board and core volunteers are very excited to welcome Dallal to the Wapiti Nordic family in her new part time role! Dallal will help manage the back end of our many programs and logistics so that the Club can keep pace with our growing membership and increasing interest from community groups and individuals. Read about Dallal's extensive background in not for profit organizations and her love of the great outdoors and sense of community. Welcome Dallal!
Cool new trail map with skill levels & live tracking!
Thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers, we now have a slick new trail map that clearly shows skill levels recommended for each trail plus numbered junctions to stay orientated. A georeferenced PDF version is available on our Trails page. You can download the PDFto your phone on an app such as Avenza Maps to see where you are - real time while out skiing! Or for the less tech orientated, save the image to your Photos on a smart phone or go totally old school and print a copy to put in your ski jacket pocket!

Kudos to our kids and parents who have been patiently waiting out the cold snap. Parents with children registered should have heard from the Jackrabbit program coordinator to pick up rental skis and details on logistics. The first session was on Sat, Jan 15th. Have fun out there!

Chicks on Sticks
Chicks on Sticks is off to a busy start this week thanks to the dump of snow and great trails. Now we just need to have temperatures around -10 for the rest of the winter! Thanks to everyone who has bought memberships and paid their Chicks fee on Zone 4. Emails are being sent to those who have registered. Just a reminder that as we did last year, there will be no drop ins this year. Members must have paid their fee ($16). If you are having trouble with paying the fee on Zone 4 please bring cash your first night. We request that anyone wanting to register be able to ski at least  3 km at a steady pace. For those of you still wanting to attend we ski Monday and Thursday. We are on the snow at 7:15 ready to go. We usually have enough volunteers for a 7 km, a variety of 5 km groups (slow, moderate) and a 3-4 km group. Top photo credit and thanks to Roberta!
