Dance Basics Boot Camp
Within 4 weeks participants will come out feeling competent and self-confident in their ability to dance, and will love every minute!
NOTE - DBBC WILL ONLY BE OFFERED ON SATURDAYS, 9-10:15 am PST via ZOOM
This workshop is designed for actors to learn how to best utilize their bodies as a creative instrument. Creative tools and exercises are taught in an applied-learning approach; the tools become “real” and immediately applicable to hone the actor’s craft.
Community Spotlight: Debbie Allen’s and Netflix’s “Dance Dreams: Hot Chocolate Nutcracker”
In “Dance Dreams”, we see Debbie Allen’s famously tough-love attitude shine as her students are given rigorous and demanding material. But she delivers her lessons with a knowing smile and comforting tone. “Dealing with kids, I’m tough on them because I’m trying to get them ready for what’s out there,” she said. “A world that is not going to just love them or let them get away with things. They have to measure up. So I have high standards and that’s why the production is very professional.”
“Being part of danceCREATE has been such an amazing gift for my body and soul! When I first joined in the spring of 2019, I was going through a bit of a rough time. After the first class I felt my heart completely open up from dancing with Maria and knew that I had to keep going back! It was a little challenging to get my body back in shape and to follow all the steps since I had been out of it for awhile, but she was so encouraging that I felt comfortable going back to class even if I wasn’t doing everything perfectly.”
