Across the United States and Canada, thousands of communities of all sizes have some form of economic development organization. Each of these organizations strive to find ways to foster growth in their respective community. Each year, the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) takes a week to raise awareness of the role of economic development professionals. This year, National Economic Development Week is May 9-15, 2021. During this week we celebrate the contributions of positive economic development and explain the role of the profession in our local community, including stewardship of:
- Policies that government undertakes to meet broad economic objectives including inflation control, high employment, and sustainable growth.
- Policies and programs to provide services such as building highways, managing parks, and providing medical access to the disadvantaged.
- Policies and programs explicitly directed at improving the business climate through specific efforts, business finance, marketing, neighborhood development, business retention and expansion, technology transfer, real estate development, and others.
On behalf of the ERDA Board of Directors and staff, we want to extend our gratitude to those who invest in economic development efforts in Enid. Economic development is a team effort and we are fortunate to have a strong team in Enid that is focused on making our community the best place to live, work, and grow in the state of Oklahoma.

On Friday, April 30th the GLō Best Western Enid, OK Downtown / Convention Center held their Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
The each of the 96 contemporary guestroom hotel feature an in-room workstation, gel-topped signature mattress and a space-saving bathroom with stylish bath amenities. OESC Holding Job Fair May 12th |
The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC) invites you to attend our career fair hosted at the Stride Bank Center in Enid on May 12. The event opens to the general public at 9 a.m. Doors open for veterans at 8:30 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to register to see potential employers and find helpful resources.
Along with the in-person event, there is a month long virtual career fair where employers can post available jobs and receive resumes, as well as interact with prospective employees. Both options are free to participate in because of CARES Funding that has been made available for this program.

Construction for new Greer Center begins with ground breaking ceremony |
Ground officially was broken for the new Robert M. Greer Center of Friday, April 23rd.
The Robert M. Greer Center is the only privately operated, state-owned treatment facility in Oklahoma “that exclusively serves adults who are dually diagnosed as having intellectual disability as well as mental illness,” according to Liberty of Oklahoma Corp., a part of Liberty Healthcare Corp., which took over the Greer Center in 2000.

Main Street Enid Awards First $10,000 Facade Grant with Help from History Makers, ERDA and Edward Jones |
On April 28, Main Street Enid announced that their first $10,000 Competitive Facade Renovation
Reimbursement Grant had been awarded to Enid Family Martial Arts, with the help of History Maker donations and matching funds from Enid Regional Development Alliance and Edward Jones.
ERDA thanks Enid Family Martial Arts for their investment in their historical downtown building!

$26.8 Billion in Relief for Restaurants |
The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) designates $28.6 billion to create a Restaurant Revitalization Fund to be administered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The legislation creates the funding, but the SBA will need to establish an application and approval process and detailed documentation requirements.
The grants made will be equal to an entity’s pandemic-related revenue loss with a maximum grant size of $10 million per eligible entity and any affiliated businesses and a cap of $5 million per physical location. The funds can be used to cover allowable costs for the period from February 15, 2020, to December 31, 2021, or another date to be determined by the SBA that is not later than two years after the ARPA’s enactment. The SBA will set aside $5 billion for entities with 2019 gross receipts of $500,000 or less. The remaining $23.6 billion will be awarded in an equitable manner to eligible entities of different sizes based on annual gross receipts.

'Radiant City' Second Crossswalk Mural Complete |
The second of four pop-up crosswalk murals was completed on Saturday, May 1 by artist Jack Morgan and volunteers.
'Radiant City' located at at the intersection of Grand and Broadway is a part of four crosswalk murals that will be completed downtown thanks to a $15,000 grant awarded to Main Street Enid by AARP Community Challenge Grant.
