Have you visited any of the following Minnesota campgrounds in the last two years? Garvin Park, Hole in the Mountain Park, Lake Washington Park, Memorial Park, Plum Creek Park, Ramsey Park, or Twin Lakes Park.
These campgrounds are striving to create a great visitor experience and would like to learn about your visit. All responses are anonymous and will be used to get a better understanding of visitors to regionally designated campgrounds in southwest Minnesota. Southwest Regional Development Commission is working with the Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission to conduct these surveys.

Marshall Municipal Utilities News Release
Marshall Municipal Utilities was recently notified by the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), our Regional Transmission Organization (RTO), that it may experience electric capacity shortfalls in the north and central regions of its service territory during summer 2022. While Marshall Municipal Utilities has adequate power supply available, since we are in the north region of the MISO footprint, we could still be affected by this potential energy shortfall. If an energy shortfall should happen, Marshall Municipal Utilities (MMU), like all other utilities, would have to respond to an Energy Emergency Alert (EEA) declared by MISO. The result of an EEA announcement may require MMU to run our local generation and request consumers reduce electrical consumption, run customer owned generation, or take outages to support the reliability of the grid.
MISO is an independent, not-for-profit organization, that its members and their customers count on to generate and transmit the right amount of electricity every minute of every day. However, with warmer-than-normal temperatures forecasted throughout the MISO footprint, the summer peak electrical needs are projected to be 124 gigawatts (GW), while projected available generation is only 119 GW. The risk of electricity shortages is not unique to the MISO service area. Traditional fossil fuel power plants across the U.S. are being retired, or taken out of service, due to environmental concerns more quickly than they can be replaced by other renewable energy sources.
Unfortunately, this situation is out of our control; however, Missouri River Energy Services, MMU’s power supplier, and MMU will work closely with MISO to provide MMU with as much notice as possible of any actions required during a potential Energy Emergency Alert (EEA).
Marshall Municipal Utilities will continue to provide our customers with updates as they become available.
