The incredible colors of this tree helped us in choosing fabrics for an upcoming web special.
It's been two months now since we moved to our new location down the road and we have settled in quite nicely. The weather has finally cooled and we are looking forward to the beautiful colors of fall.

Speaking of looking forward to things, we have been looking forward to the arrival of my new batiks and they are finally here!  As with so much these days, there were delays along the way but we are so happy to see them now sitting on our shelves.

Besides information on my new Malam batiks, please make sure you read on to learn about my new "scrappy" pattern, upcoming web specials and a border print lesson.
New Malam VIII Batik Collection
I'm am so excited to bring to you my latest collection of batiks, Malam VIII. In creating these fabrics, I focused on sometimes hard-to-find lights and rich brights. The collection contains 34 fabrics, 17 light and 17 bright.

These new batiks are available by the yard or in fat quarter bundles in six groups of five or six fabrics each.

You can see the entire Malam VIII collection here.
New Pattern - Urban Sunset
Besides playing with the fabrics for the center, I had fun experimenting with possible border prints.
I've enjoyed bringing you the shaded fabric bundles and related projects which we have featured these past few years. Many of you have asked for more suggestions on what to do with the many bundles we carry such as our Urban Sunset Grand Bundle. Our new Urban Sunset pattern serves as an all-purpose scrap pattern for this group of fabrics or any of our shaded bundles. It would also work for groupings you've created with fabric from your stash which so many of us have turned to these days.

I adapted a pattern we used for a past Quilters' Quest featuring many fabrics.  I enjoyed experimenting with different possibilities and hope you will, too. This pattern teaches you how to put many fabrics together into a beautiful color-balanced quilt without locking you into putting a certain fabric in an exact location.

Border Lesson #6 - Border Print Use: Possibilities are Endless

In these past months, we have looked at using border prints in many ways besides, as expected, on the border of a quilt.  I have shown them to you in squares, triangles, hexagons and more.  This month, we will be looking at incorporating these fabrics into unexpected places in your blocks for a fresh, new look.

To learn how to use border prints in new ways, see Border Print Lesson #6 - Border Print Use: Possibilities are Endless.
