Start your engines! Open enrollment is your chance to make coverage changes for the following year. Eligible subscribers can make changes between October 1-31, 2021. Any changes you make during open enrollment will take effect January 1, 2022.
If you are unsure what coverage you currently have, log in to MyBenefits to find out. If you are satisfied with your coverage, you don’t need to do anything. Your coverage will continue in 2022.
Keep in mind, though, you must re-enroll in MoneyPlus flexible spending accounts each year, and 2021 is a dental election year. Unless you have a special eligibility situation, this will be your last chance to enroll in Dental Plus until October 2023.
Scheduling a phone or video consultation is a safe and convenient way for you to chat with a benefits counselor from anywhere. At your scheduled appointment time, a benefits counselor will call you at the number you provide or connect with you via a secure video chat. Your consultation will be tailored to address your needs.
Phone and video consultations are great options if you are planning to retire soon or if you have questions related to PEBA-administered benefits that have not been resolved.
It’s always good practice to review and update your beneficiary information, especially if you have had an important life event, such as a marriage or the birth of a child. You will need to have all beneficiary information, such as full names, dates of birth and Social Security numbers.
Retirement beneficiary information can be updated through Member Access. If you participate in the State Optional Retirement Program (State ORP), you must update your beneficiaries with your chosen service provider. As a State ORP participant, you may also be eligible for an incidental death benefit. You may update your incidental death benefit beneficiaries through Member Access.
You may update life insurance beneficiary designations through MyBenefits. If you participate in the South Carolina Deferred Compensation Program, you must update your beneficiaries with Empower Retirement.
Applying for service retirement is easy with Member Access. You can conveniently log in to your account any time to get started. You may file your application as early as six months prior to your desired effective date of retirement but no later than 90 days after. We encourage you to file your application as early as possible.
