2022 Bucky Buchanan's Snubby Revolver Workshop - Sep 17 

Course Summary:

While semi-automatics are the most popular carry and self-defense handguns today, there is still demand for small-frame revolvers with good reason: They're easy to conceal, simple to operate, and highly reliable in a life-or-death situation.

However, while snubby revolvers offer many advantages, they also present specific challenges in a combative situation.

In this workshop, renowned firearms instructor and training officer, Bucky Buchanan will show you the difference in performance between semi-autos and revolvers, how to carry and draw from concealment, what a snubby can and can't do in various situations, how to use a snubby for self-defense, and much more.

This is a complete A-to-Z workshop that will give you a solid, basic working knowledge of your snubby revolver in a combat/concealed carry scenario.

Basic gun handling and holster skills.

Course Length/Hours:

1 Day - 9:00am-5:00pm

Topics Covered:

• Revolver choices and the pros & cons of each
• Snubby ballistics, both external and wound-based
• Realistic expectations from small revolvers
• Carry methods: IWB and OWB belt, pocket, & ankle
• Draw techniques for each carry method
• Grip, trigger, and recoil control
• Speed shooting with a snubby
• Shooting at various distances
• Reloading devices and techniques
• Unconventional shooting positions

Gear Requirements:

• 5 or 6 shot snubby revolver (3" barrel or shorter)
• Holster (OWB, IWB, Appendix) - no shoulder or cross draw
• At least (2) reloaders with pouches
• 400 rounds of ammo
• Electronic ear protection
• Eye protection
• Concealment clothes appropriate for climate and conditions
• Hydration fluids
• Lunch and snacks        

Course Cost:

$175 per person, which includes instruction, targets, and range access.

About Your Instructor, Brian "Bucky" Buchanan:

Officer Brian “Bucky” Buchanan is currently a full-time 30-year Police Officer, 25-year SWAT member, 25-year Training Officer, and 20-year Firearms Rangemaster for a large Cincinnati area police agency and he is a longtime active member of many national training organizations for firearms, SWAT, martial arts, and other personal defense training genres (ILEETA, IALEFI, OTOA etc.). Officer Buchanan is a certified instructor in a multitude of firearms and other weapons systems, but his favorite is handgun and revolver instruction. He is also an avid collector of all types of firearms.

Officer Buchanan is well known for teaching defensive tactics and firearms training programs in several area police academies, which he has been doing since 1998. He has been an Ohio State Level Instructor from very early in his law enforcement career. Bucky has been a regularly contracted, high-energy, professional instructor for a variety of physical security trainings and consulting disciplines in the police and private sector for over 20 years and he continues to train dozens of Tri-state police agencies, schools, private citizens, businesses, medical centers, churches, and other nonprofit organizations by offering multiple courses on how to stay alive in the worst situations!!!   

Bucky loves training civilians (yup, that's probably you)!! He is the original Assistant Instructor with the renowned Dave Spaulding and Dave Spaulding's Handgun Combatives LLC and he has been traveling and teaching on a national level with Dave for over 10 years. Bucky especially enjoyed the early years of teaching several Buckeye Firearms Association courses all over Ohio and he is extremely excited to be working with Buckeye Firearms again.
