Let's Get Vaccinated, White Plains!
All New Yorkers age 16 and older are now eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
In addition, all New York State mass vaccination sites are now open to eligible New Yorkers for walk-in vaccination on a first-come, first-serve basis. The walk-in appointments are reserved for first doses only. Second-dose appointments will be scheduled automatically after administration of the first dose.
There are two State-run mass vaccination sites in our area: The Westchester County Center and the Yonkers Armory.
This new approach means any eligible New Yorker age 16 and older will be able to walk into any mass vaccination site and walk out with a shot in arm, eliminating the need to make an appointment online or by phone. However if you wish to schedule your appointment, you can find more information about how to do that here.

City Approves MIxed-Use Redevelopment of “Gateway II” Site with 500 Apartment Units
At its April meeting, the White Plains Common Council approved the redevelopment of a 3.5 acre property located at 85 North Lexington Ave and known as “Gateway II.” The site is currently utilized as a parking lot.
500 apartment units, along with 19,000 sq. ft. of street level retail space and approximately 7,400 sq. ft. of publicly accessible open space are proposed.
The residential mix will include studios, 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments, including affordable units, in compliance with the City’s Affordable Rental Housing program. Parking will be accommodated via a garage incorporated into the project that will provide enough parking for both the residents and the employees of the Gateway I office building at One North Lexington Ave.
As a mixed-use, transit oriented development, the project incorporates the planning principles in the Transit District Strategic Plan, which was developed for the area 1/3 of a mile around the White Plains Metro-North Station, and includes the project site. The project will also be assessed a parks and recreation fee, which the city will use exclusively for new or enhanced park, playground, and other recreational purposes.

More than 100 volunteers, White Plains residents who serve on City committees or work with non-profit groups dedicated to helping others, were recognized by the city for their contributions to our community at a virtual ceremony on April 22nd.
"White Plains has always had a strong volunteer spirit," said Mayor Roach. "It's one of the things that distinguishes our city and strengthens us as community. The volunteers we recognized this year have helped out at food distributions and vaccine clinics. They serve as Covid Angels - helping people get appointments for vaccines, and deliver meals to those who are homebound. They tutor and mentor young people, donate funds for programs, and serve on city and community boards. We thank them and we appreciate them every day!"
