Boy Scouts Achieve Eagle Scout Rank
Supervisors recognized Alexander Omlor for earning the rank of Eagle Scout in  the Boy Scouts of America. As a member of Troop 905, Alexander earned 57 merit badges and accumulated numerous combined service hours. For his Eagle Scout project, he constructed floating islands for Nelson Pond and the turtle pond at Moon Park, these help to irrigate and cool down water temperatures to make the water safe for the species that inhabit them, they hold a variety of flowering perennial aquatic plants and accumulated over 480 service hours for his project. Alexander is currently working to get his Summit Rank in Venturing, which is the highest rank you can achieve in venturing. Congratulations Alexander!

The Board of Supervisors regular public meeting is held on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. Watch live on MAG-TV, Comcast channel 18, or Verizon channel 37. The meetings are rebroadcast throughout the month on MAG-TV. Check the website for times. You can also watch a recording online. View the meeting agendas in advance here.

-Do not use a costume mask (such as for Halloween) as a substitute for a cloth mask unless it is made of two or more layers of breathable fabric that covers your mouth and nose and doesn't leave gaps around your face.
-Do not wear a costume mask over a cloth mask, because it can be dangerous if the costume mask makes it hard to breathe. Instead, consider using a Halloween-themed cloth mask.
-Please follow social distancing guidelines and stay at least six feet apart.
-Try to limit your group size.
-If you are hanging out Halloween treats, consider placing them outside in a bowl on your porch or at the end of your driveway to keep maintain social distancing.
-If you choose to hand out treats, please wear a mask.
-Sanitize or wash your hands and stay home if you're not feeling well.
Halloween Trunk or Treat
October 21, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Moon Park

Calling all little ghosts and goblins to Moon Park for a socially distanced Halloween Spooktacular. The event this year will feature a Trunk or Treat for kids ages 10 and under. Due to Covid-19 restrictions this event will not include carnival games or hayrides. We look forward to the return of those items in 2021. The first 500 kids will get a reusable bag and munchkin pumpkin. Everyone will have a great time at this fun holiday event. Businesses interested in having a trunk at this years event should email info@moonparks.org.
National Prescription Drug Take-Back
The Township of Moon's Police Department has a Prescription Drug Collection box in the lobby to collect unwanted and unused medications year long. As October 24 is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, we remind residents of the opportunity to safely and properly dispose of medications that are no longer needed. For more information, contact the Moon Police Department at 412.262.5000.
Archery Hunt in Moon Parks
September 19-January 23 (No Sunday hunts)

With the increasing deer population, Moon Township has decided to host a public (archery only) deer hunting program for the 2020-2021 season. This will allow a limited number of licensed hunters who applied for a permit to hunt at Moon Park, Olson Park, and Robin Hill Park during hunting season from September 19-January 23. There will be no Sunday hunting and there will be no firearms permitted. Hunters must have completed the Pennsylvania Basic Hunter-Trapper Education Course and have a valid archery hunting license. All Pennsylvania Game rules will apply.

The Hunter Access Program created a partnership between the Game Commission and the Township whereby they work together to improve the public hunting opportunities and wildlife habitat. This program allows hunters and trappers to help manage game and fur-bearer populations through lawful hunting and trapping. This program will be able to minimize the overpopulation of deer in Moon Township and the surrounding areas. By lowering the density of deer in the area, this will help to lower car accidents caused by deer, the growing tick population, and help to protect green space in Moon Township where deer are overeating. We have reached the permit limit for the time. For more information, visit www.moontwp.us.

Free MCA-TV Production Classes
MCA-TV relies on volunteers to film, produce, and host our productions. If you ever wondered what it would be like to work in television, this is your opportunity to do so by signing up for our free quarterly production classes. These classes are open to residents of any community.

The training course is a series of four hands-on classes providing the basics of camera operation, lighting, audio, and editing. Successful completion of the course provides the opportunity to be an official MCA-TV volunteer, ready and able to assist with any MCA-TV production.

Moon Township residents who successfully complete the production training course may choose to become a community producer. Community producers provide the original and entertaining productions of MCA-TV's programming schedule. Non-residents wishing to create a show to air on MCA-TV must work with a community producer who actively participates in the program development.

Several MCA-TV original shows have won national and state-wide awards including "The Doctor Is In" produced by Dr. Marc Schneiderman, and "Soak it Up: A Storm Water Documentary". These award-winning shows express the evident value of community-produced programming.

Classes run from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. on Wednesdays for four weeks beginning Wednesday, October 14 at the MCA-TV studio located at 1700 Beaver Grade Road, Suite 140, Moon Township, PA 15108. To register, contact MCA-TV Director  Allison Ford at aeastham@moontwp.us. Feel free to check out mca-tv.org to learn more about the station.
Promote Your Event on the Community Bulletin Board

The community bulletin board is an automated, computer-generated video graphics message service provided free of charge to all Moon Township residents as well as nonprofit groups and organizations. Help Moon Township Make 2020 Count
The census provides critical data that lawmakers, business owners, teachers, and many others use to provide daily services, products, and support for you and your community. Every year, billions of dollars in federal funding go to hospitals, fire departments, schools, roads, and other resources based on census data.

Most households received their invitation to respond to the 2020 Census between March 12-20. These official Census Bureau mailings include detailed information and a Census ID for completing the Census online.

In addition to an invitation to respond, some households will receive a paper questionnaire (sometimes known as the census form). You do not need to wait for your paper questionnaire to respond to the Census.

Please complete your form online, by phone, or by mail. Visit
my2020census.gov to begin.
Water Line Flushing
Moon Township Municipal Authority personnel will be flushing water mains, testing and inspecting fire hydrants nightly, Sunday through Friday, for (4) weeks beginning October 4, 2020 through October 30, 2020. Flushing is scheduled between the hours of 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Customers may notice low water pressure and water discoloration and it is recommended to check the water before using it. The discoloration will normally clear in a short time
