Principals' Message

Winter Break is upon us! We hope that everyone has a happy, restful holiday. Stay safe and healthy! We'll see you January 6, 2021.
Athletics Message

Williamson County is in RED - Uncontrolled Community Transmission. Wilco Health District recommendations are "Stay Home / Stay Safe.” It will take two weeks of significant decline in cases to move to a lower risk category and another two to move to YELLOW, where we began school in September and operated until recently.

Under the Governor’s order, schools must remain open for those families who determine it is best for their children to attend. We recognize that most students do far better learning in person than they do virtually. Therefore, it is our priority to continue on-campus instruction - both legally and because we believe it is the right thing to do.

In order to do this, we must keep the campus as safe and illness-free as possible for students and staff to continue coming.

With this priority in mind, we have made the difficult decision to limit activities to academic pursuits until the situation changes. Second semester sports, at this stage, are on hold with the possibility of cancellation. If the situation improves dramatically by January 19, and it’s possible to reconsider, we will. We will keep the Athletics website up-to-date, and updates will be shared in The Lions Share when available.

We know that other schools and leagues continue with UIL and club sports. Because of the lean nature of our teaching and administrative staff, we do not feel that is a risk we are able to take while knowing our goal is to deliver quality academics during this time. We appreciate your support and as always, should you have questions, please contact [email protected].
Choir Opportunity: Lift Every Voice and Sing
To mark Black History Month in February, we are creating a choir to learn, perform, and record the song, "Lift Every Voice and Sing," written by James Weldon Johnson in 1900 and composed by his brother, J. Rosamond Johnson, in 1905. All Meridian students in grades 1-12, staff, and alumni are invited to participate. Submit one interest form per person.

Can you help us/do you know how we can record a choral performance safely and professionally? Please email Sal Stow with suggestions. Include your name (and phone, if possible).
Alumni Day January 7 (sign up to participate)

Thursday, January 7, we will hold our annual Alumni Recognition Day. It will primarily be held via Zoom this year, and current students and parents have the chance to visit with our alumni about college and how a Meridian IB education impacts their college experience. See the schedule and sign up to participate by January 2.
8th-10th grade Parent Information Night January 19

It's time to start thinking about what we will be doing next school year! Students receive course selection sheets for 2021-2022 in January, and one major item that Meridian high school students look toward to is the IB Diploma Program their junior and senior year.

Our Information Night for Parents of 8th - 10th grade students will be held via Zoom the evening of January 19. We start with a session for 8th and 9th grade parents, with an introduction to the IB Diploma, followed by a session for 10th grade parents that goes into more detail on IB Diploma Program course offerings at Meridian. Mark your calendars!
