OUR MISSION:
St. Rita School inspires students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade eight to achieve academic excellence in a safe, nurturing and faith-filled Catholic environment.
We prepare students to be morally responsible, innovative thinkers who, in today’s technology-guided global community, live and share the Love of Christ.
From the Desk of Mrs. Tiezzi

Dear St. Rita Parents/Guardians,

This Friday we will celebrate Halloween, St. Rita style!!! The teachers have planned many educational and fun activities for our students. It should be a fun-filled and fright-filled day! Beginning at 5:45 P.M. our 11th Annual Trunk or Treat will begin. Over 400 people have registered to attend. Thank you to everyone who has donated 2 bags of candy for our little ghouls, goblins, pirates, princesses, and vast menagerie of superheroes! You may still contribute to the event by sending in your bags of candy tomorrow or Friday.  I would strongly suggest than anyone (adult or child) who is unvaccinated wear a facemask to help protect you from COVID-19. Parents are expected to monitor your child/ren during the event.

As you may be aware, the CDC will soon be approving the COVID 19 vaccine for those children ages 5-11. If your child receives the vaccine, once it is approved, they can be fully vaccinated by Christmas. What a great gift it would be for the St. Rita School community for all eligible students to be vaccinated! In order for our school to return to normal and possibly even have the governor lift the face mask mandate, we must have a high percentage of our students fully vaccinated. If your child is fully vaccinated he/she will not need to quarantine should they be exposed to COVID at school, at sports, or in a social setting. Once your child is fully vaccinated please be sure that Mrs. Palma, our nurse, has a copy of your child’s vaccination card. Your assistance is greatly appreciated!!

In August, Our Holy Father Pope Francis launched a powerful appeal for Catholic people and people around the world to get vaccinated with the approved COVID-19 vaccines calling it “an act of love. Love for oneself, love for our families and friends, and love for all people.” Pope Francis says that “getting vaccinated is a simple yet profound way to care for one another, especially the most vulnerable.” He asks God that “each one of us make his or her own small gesture of love. No matter how small, love is always grand. Small gestures for a better future.” Please have your child vaccinated so he/she and all his/her classmates can have a safe and healthy future here at St. Rita School.

Please read the entire Constant Contact as there is important information regarding the upcoming Thanksgiving Food Drive to support the Divine Mercy Parish Food Bank. There is also an “App Guide for Parents” from Internet Safety Concepts which outlines the many apps being used by our children for social media, chatting/gaming and dating apps. Please take the time to review which of these apps your child is using and the age restrictions that are associated with them. Your vigilance is needed to monitor your child’s numerous devices in order to keep him/her safe.

The weather is turning colder but the students will continue to go outside for recess and lunchtime, weather permitting. Please be sure your child/ren is dressed appropriately and also please label their personal belongings, especially fleeces and coats.

Thank you for entrusting your child/ren to our care. Enjoy the rest of the week. Have a very happy and safe Halloween!

God Bless,
Mrs. Tiezzi

11th Annual SRS Trunk or Treat
Time for a FUN-Raiser!

SRS Trunk or Treat is a fun event in which our children get to dress up and go "trunk to trunk" at SRS to family cars in the school parking lot.

They collect Halloween goodies and have an evening of fun together with treats and music. It is a "rain or shine" event just as Halloween is.

This event is open to all St. Rita School families.
All ages are welcome and all must be accompanied by an adult. Feel free to also dress up! Please no overtly political or intensely horror-themed choices.

HOW IT WORKS: cars with goodies start to line up at 5:00pm in a circle with all the trunks pointed outward. Decorated trunks are a plus: the more fun, the better! Check out Pinterest for ideas!

Friday, October 29
Arrival time for cars: 5pm
Start time for trunk o' treating: 5:45-6:45 pm

Parents: please sign up to either sponsor a car or to attend with your children. If you're not sponsoring a car, please send in two bags of store-bought treats. If you can help with parking or first aid, please indicate that.

Travel and COVID

Currently, we are following these guidelines for travel:

-If you are traveling internationally and are NOT vaccinated you must quarantine for 7 days once returning to the USA and get tested on days 3-5. Students can return to school on day 8 with proof of a negative PCR test.

-If you are traveling internationally and you ARE vaccinated you do not need to quarantine upon return to the USA. You should still be tested on days 3-5 and self monitor for any COVID symptoms. Students can return to school upon return from your destination.

- For Domestic travel we currently have no restrictions. You should remain cautious if you are not vaccinated by wearing a mask while traveling, washing hands frequently and avoiding crowded areas. Students can return to school upon return from your destination but should get tested on days 3-5 and self monitor for symptoms.

Hearing and Vision Screening

The health office will provide hearing and vision screening for students in grades K,1,3,4 and 5. This screening will take place the week of October 25 during gym class. If you do NOT want your child screened for hearing and/or vision please send a note to school with your students name and teacher and signed by a parent. Please specify that you do Not want your child screened for hearing, vision or both.
HSA
Home/School Association
The HSA Executive Board is looking for a parent or parents to chair the next fundraiser. It is a catalog fundraiser, so most of the work can be done on your own time. We will also be here to help and support you.

Please reach out if you are interested. We need parents to continue to help out in order to raise the necessary funds for our school.

Thank you,
The HSA Executive Board
Hello Saint Rita Families,

The HSA Executive Board is excited to start another great year, and we have been busy planning events. We are kicking off the year with our 2nd annual Mum Sale and an Ice Cream Social and outdoor movie night!

We would love to have more parents get involved this year! There are many different opportunities to volunteer. There is something for everyone, from one day events to long term commitments, and some can even be done at home on your own time.

The time and efforts of our volunteers are essential and very much appreciated!

Please review the upcoming events the HSA is planning on the back of this page. We will need volunteers to be able to make these happen, so visit the sign-up genius and let us know how you can help. We are always open to new ideas as well!
We are looking forward to working with you,

The HSA Executive Board
