April 2021 -- A Stable Faith

For where your treasure is, there your heart shall be also.
[Matthew 6:21]

During this season we turn our focus towards our experience of UUCM, our hopes and dreams for UUCM, and we take some time to look at what we’ve accomplished and where we’re going. It’s a season for taking stock, NOT just a season about giving money to the church. The season of Stewardship is one of my favorite times of year. (I hear you groaning…PLEASE read on!)

A Message From the Board
Spring is here at last! My spirits are always lifted by the longer days, the warmer temperatures, and the promise of new green shoots and budding flowers. I look forward to eventually throwing open the doors and windows, and inviting fresh air into my home, along with the songs of frogs and birds.

I encourage everyone to attend one of the Stewardship Team's Virtual Cottage meetings this month. Each of us has a part to play in UUCM's future, rooted in our commitment to the continued stewardship of our spiritual family and home. The future is as warm and bright as a spring day! Come learn what the future holds, and how you can help.

Blessed Be,
Marti Kennedy, Board President
Finance Committee News
Important Message - Please keep sending in your pledges if you are financially able.
Even though our income is less than expected due to fewer rentals and no Auction this year, our expenses are also less than expected. We plan to take the full amount of standard withdrawal from the Endowment, but due to excess monies from last year and both the first wave and expected second wave of Payroll Protection Plan (PPP) money, we do not anticipate taking any additional money from the endowment as part of our 6-Year Plan. This plan had $108,000 available to the operating budget. We took about $27,000 the first year, so $81,000 remains.

Finance Committee Happenings
  • Our PPP loan of $33,300 has been forgiven! We are eligible and applying for the second wave of PPP money (about $30,000 more) and should receive word soon. We’re so thankful for Jamie Ferrier’s commitment to getting this for us!
  • A draft of the 2021-22 budget was presented to the Board on March 28.
