VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
PARENT VOLUNTEER CHAPERONES NEEDED FOR HOMECOMING

THIS SaturdayOctober 23, 8–10 PM, the Junior ASB Officers are holding our annual International School Homecoming! To host this event, we need 10–12 parent chaperones. The event will be mask-mandated and held indoors. We will be showing a movie and hosting games throughout the evening. It would mean so much to us if you could help make this event a success.

SAT PROCTORS AND SUPPORT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
 
International School will be administering the SAT to 11th and 12th grade students on Thursday, October 28. We are looking for parents who can proctor the test and parents who are able to provide school support. 
 
Proctoring involves:
  • Arriving at 8 AM and staying through the end of the test around 1 PM
  • Participating in a short proctor training via the College Board website
  • Distributing testing materials on test day
  • Reading the directions out loud to students
  • Monitoring the testing room
  • Recording testing irregularities
  • Collecting testing materials
 
School support involves:
  • Providing proctors with breaks
  • Directing student traffic during passing periods
  • Reminding students to remain silent during passing periods
 
If you are the parent of a student who is NOT in 11th or 12th grade, you are eligible to proctor the SAT or provide school day support.  If you are able and interested, please email Assistant Principal Traci Sullivan.
GOODWILL DRIVE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are looking for adult and student volunteers to help with the Goodwill Drive on Saturday, November 20, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM. Please email Emilie at president@isptsa.org if you are interested.

ISPTSA is excited to host Laura Kastner, Ph.D. talking about The Launching Years.** Planning for college and leaving for college is often a time of change and stress for parents and teens. Come enjoy a great speaker who presents with empathy and humor on how to successfully navigate these changes. Friends and family of IS are welcome to attend. Reservations are required for in-person attendance to ensure safe distancing. We are working on making a VIRTUAL OPTION available too! Stay tuned for an email TOMORROW with online meeting information.

The ISPTSA General Membership Meeting will be held right after Laura Kastner's presentation. Please review these documents before the meeting:

POINSETTIA & WREATH SALE

The International School Class of 2022 is holding its traditional fundraiser selling festive holiday poinsettias and wreaths from Squak Mountain Nursery in Issaquah. Proceeds fund the graduation activities this June.
  • Poinsettias (Red, Pink, White) are $15 including tax.
  • Wreaths (24" Mixed Noble) are $25 including tax. Note that the bow is not included.
  • Deadline for orders: Wednesday, November 3rd
  • Plant Pickup: Tuesday, November 30 at International School. Pickup instructions will be announced at a later date.

NEW COVID DASHBOARD OVERVIEW

Bellevue School District updated our COVID-19 Dashboard to better meet the needs of our community. The changes allow users to look at BSD’s COVID-19 data in a variety of ways, including tables and graphs. Users can also easily change views between district totals and individual school totals. STUDENT NEWS & OPPORTUNITIES
JUBILEE REACH: FLAG FOOTBALL

Jubilee REACH is a non-profit organization and a proud partner of the BSD. Our flag football season at IS begins on November 13. Practices will be held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 3:45–5 PM after the mandatory tutorial. Students must have a ride home after practice. Games will be on Wednesdays against other BSD middle schools and will run approximately 2:45–4:30 PM. For away games, bus transportation is provided to the game location and back to International School. Game schedules will be released shortly after the season begins. CTE CAREER TALKS: PULSE ON HEALTH CARE CAREERS THAT SAVE LIVES

Career Talks are monthly presentations by local business and industry leaders who discuss their journey from high school to where they are today. As part of Health Career Awareness Month, the talk this month will focus on life-saving health care careers. 35TH ANNUAL NEWPORT SKI SWAP

Mark your calendars! The Newport Ski Swap is scheduled for Friday, November 12, and Saturday, November 13 at Newport High School. It's huge! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR NEWPORT SKI SWAP

The annual Newport Ski Swap fundraiser is one of the region’s premier ski sale events. We need many student and parent volunteers for before, during, and after the event from Thursday, November 11 to Sunday, November 14. The volunteer jobs are simple, and they do NOT require any snow sport or ski knowledge. Students earn volunteer hours that are required for graduation.
