The purpose of the program is to strengthen the institutional base of the humanities by enabling infrastructure development and capacity building. Awards of federal matching funds aim to help institutions secure long-term support for their core activities and expand efforts to preserve and create access to outstanding humanities materials. The program supports two distinct types of projects, each with its own Notice of Funding Opportunity:
-
Capital Projects support the purchase, design, construction, restoration, or renovation of facilities for humanities activities.
-
Digital Infrastructure supports the maintenance, modernization, and sustainability of existing digital scholarly projects and platforms.

The National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center (ERC) program supports convergent research that will lead to strong societal impact. This webinar will present information and best practices, as well as provide an opportunity for robust Q&A in support of the current NSF Engineering Research Center (ERC) NSF 22-580 solicitation.
The live Q&A with the seven-member NSF ERC program director team will address themes of interest to ERC principal investigator teams as well as the all-important industry/stakeholder community that collaborate with these ERCs. The awards for each new ERC amount to well over $50 million over a decade in support of themes that have the potential for societal impact, translation to the marketplace, and are centered around a systems engineering approach.

Since the 2015-2016 academic year, the LAUNCH Innovation Grants Program has provided 20 awards totaling over $750,000 to Auburn PIs to further develop their innovations to advance them towards commercialization. While many of these projects are ongoing, six of them have successfully advanced towards the market in the form of license deals or follow-on funding.
The Office of Innovation Advancement and Commercialization, or IAC, announced that the 2022-2023 LAUNCH Awards will again use the accelerated timeline introduced last year. This allows for earlier access to funds for award winners. Instead of running across both fall and spring semesters, awards will be determined before Thanksgiving.
For more details on LAUNCH and on this year's schedule, go to IAC's LAUNCH webpage. Please note that any LAUNCH applications must be related to an invention disclosure already on record and active with IAC.
Applications Due: August 8, 2022 4:45 pm

NSF: CAREER Grant Development Training Opportunity
Hanover Research has developed a new Grants Learning Center (GLC) on-demand grant development training portal that offers faculty enrollees the unique opportunity to receive targeted training in the form of self-paced, interactive modules with step-by-step guidance and templates for prospective applicants to develop compelling proposals. The first GLC course is dedicated to the National Science Foundation’s Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER). A proposal export feature offers faculty the opportunity to consolidate draft responses into a working draft for further offline development. Auburn faculty interested in signing up for this training should contact Christine Cline at clc0165@auburn.edu for registration information.

NSF is soliciting concept outlines for this new initiative designed to catalyze and foster innovation ecosystems across the U.S. to harness the nation's science and technology research and development enterprise and regional-level resources. NSF Engines can catalyze robust partnerships rooted in scientific and technological innovation to positively impact the economy within a geographic region, address societal challenges, and advance national competitiveness.
NSF has not placed a limitation on the number of concept outlines that can be submitted for consideration. Please work with your college level designee and/or your contact at the Office of Sponsored Programs to submit your concept. If multiple concept outlines are approved by NSF, PSFS will subsequently conduct a down-select competition to ensure that program limitations are followed.

The Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR), in collaboration with The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation, is launching the Food Waste Challenge to develop an original, innovative methodology for regularly occurring quantitative measurement of food waste generated in US households that stakeholders across the food system can use.
Food waste occurs for numerous reasons and at various levels throughout the food system, which makes tackling the problem especially challenging. FFAR will prioritize innovative projects that emphasize a commitment to the collaboration of researchers and practitioners across multiple sectors and disciplines.

HUD is soliciting proposals that use a community studies method to examine positive, negative, and neutral effects of disaster assistance on the resilience to wildfire of low- and moderate-income persons and communities. HUD seeks proposals that will consider both biophysical factors (e.g., defensible space, location of buildings) and social factors (e.g., insurance coverage, education) that affect resilience to wildfire, including actions that may be individual (e.g., putting a new roof on your home, having a get-away bag at your front door) and collective (e.g., building codes and enforcement, free chipper days). “Community studies method” means an observational study that uses multiple data sources to investigate a problem within the context of other behavior and attitudes within a community (adapted from Arensberg, 1954). HUD will consider both retrospective and prospective studies for funding,
