Bowling Night!

On February 23rd, with the help with our board members Laurie and Janet, Daybreak was able to host a Bowling Night for the residents. Everyone was so excited and happy to enjoy a social night out. Thank you Laurie and Janet with your help organizing such a successful night out.

Resident News

Welcome to Daybreak Jason and AJ!

Daybreak welcomed 2 new residents this past quarter. The residents are thrilled that they were able to find help to access safe, affordable, and comfortable housing in a supportive community.

Daybreak looks forward to welcoming 2 new residents in the next quarter.

Congratulations Nick!

This past month Nick moved into independent living.

Daybreak assisted Nick in organizing the lease signing, moving his belongings with a Home Depot van, getting Rogers Wi-Fi connected, getting a cell phone connected, providing a welcome starter package, and getting additional supports through the City of Ottawa to receive furniture and household items.

Nick is slowly settling and enjoying his new apartment.

A BIG Thank you!

Daybreak would like to thank all the current and new cake bakers for donating your incredible desserts to our residents. Your delicious treats don't last too long in any of the houses!

Meet one of our community partners:

Centretown Pharmacy!

Raina, the Addictions Counsellor at Centretown Pharmacy had this to say about our relationship:

Daybreak's New Volunteer

Emma is currently in her fourth year at Carleton University in an honours Bachelor of Arts program focusing on Forensic Psychology. Her interest and course selection over the years has been geared toward the judicial system, mental health psychology, substance use disorders, and the relationship between addiction and various elements such as genetic and environmental predispositions. During her studies in psychology and law, she has developed a love and special interest in criminal behaviour and the criminal justice system. As a result, she intends to pursue post-graduate studies toward a master's/Ph.D. in forensic psychology or apply to law school.

Emma is eager to learn about the most vulnerable populations as well as understand the processes for housing these individuals. Emma is excited to help the men and women of the Ottawa community rebuild their lives through Daybreak.

In her spare time, Emma enjoys hanging out with friends, traveling, watching documentaries, and stargazing.

IKEA Furniture Purchase

This past quarter Daybreak purchased new IKEA bedroom furniture to be able to replace older furniture and to furnish rooms for new residents.
