Florida's Chief Resilience Officer Tours Town's 8.4-Acre Site
On January 5, Dr. Wesley Brooks, State of Florida's new Chief Resilience Officer, toured the Town's 8.4-acre parcel located by SW 184 Street and Old Cutler Road, along with Mayor Meerbott and Town Manager Casals. Dr. Brooks is visiting some of the sites included in Florida Department of Environmental Protection's (FDEP) Statewide Flooding and Sea Level Rise Resilience Plan.
The site will be preserved as a green space for resiliency purposes but will need cleaning and restoration to enhance its environmental value. Working closely with Senator Ileana Garcia, Town staff secured a $250,000 grant from FDEP to help cover the cost of restoration.
