Alliance Update – September 16
Please join us for an in-person Alliance Investor Update on Thursday, September 16 at 7:30 a.m. CT at Pine Mountain Resort in the Sitzmark Room. All are welcome. This update is for Alliance Investors and anyone interested in learning more about the Alliance. Michigan Works News
Application Drive

UP Michigan Works, the Dickinson Area Economic Development Alliance, Downtown Iron Mountain, the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Tourism Association of the Dickinson County Area will be co-hosting an application drive on Friday, September 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. CST in downtown Iron Mountain across from the library.

Businesses do not need to be present at the event but are more than welcome to attend. Michigan Works will use a generic application with a list of available jobs for job seekers to complete. Laptops will be on-hand to complete online applications, if required. Once collected, Michigan Works will distribute the completed applications to employers.

Going PRO Talent Fund

On September 15, Upper Peninsula Michigan Works is holding a virtual information session about the Going PRO Talent Fund, a program that funds training opportunities for Michigan businesses.

The Going PRO Talent Fund makes awards to employers to assist in training, developing and retaining current and newly hired employees. Training funded must be short-term and fill a demonstrated talent need experienced by the employer. Training must also lead to a credential for a skill that is transferable and recognized by the industry.

Michigan Works is sharing the latest information on new training programs, grants, and other resources for employers. This free virtual program begins at 2:00 p.m. ET on September 15th.

Training for New Managers Offered at Bay West
Bay College West is offering a course titled Management Skills for New Managers starting October 20. Many new managers have the technical skills to succeed, but often lack the skills of managing, motivating and developing employees. Do you have recently promoted staff that would benefit from this training?
