HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL
Attention all Halloween-loving CSArts-SGV students: Please join us on Friday, October 29 for tons of spooky fun! High school and middle school students are invited to hang out in the Quad and enjoy live music, nostalgic crafts, and a raffle from 3-5 p.m. The annual costume contest will begin at 3 p.m. For guidelines regarding costumes, please see the message below. Fall treats, such as pizza, candy apples, pumpkin pie, and water, will be available for purchase. We hope to see you there!
HALLOWEEN COSTUME REMINDERS
We would like to share the following reminders, which can help as students plan their costumes:

Do:

  • Make sure your costume follows CSArts-SGV dress code and is school appropriate.
  • Make sure that you are identifiable to staff as a CSArts-SGV student. If your costume includes a headpiece or mask that obscures your face, you must remove it upon entry and exit from school and whenever asked by a staff member.

Don’t:

  • Bring toy guns or weapons to school. If your costume includes a replica or foam sword or staff, that is acceptable; however, please be aware that staff or administration may ask to see it and may stow it in their office if it is determined to be potentially dangerous.
  • Engage in cultural appropriation or wear a costume that makes fun of a specific religion, race, ethnicity, cultural group, or gender. True appreciation comes in the form of learning about other cultures, befriending different people, going to museums, researching, and listening to others’ stories. Dressing up for one day of the year is not an appropriate demonstration of appreciation. Please stick to make-believe costumes, such as superheroes, zombies, aliens, vampires, book characters, and all things imaginative or creative. If you would like to learn more about cultural appropriation, you can find a video resource from Teen Vogue here.
AP EXAM PURCHASE DEADLINE TODAY
Don’t forget to register for your AP exams! The deadline to purchase an exam is TODAY, Friday, October 22, at 11:59 p.m. through MySchoolBucks. The exam fee established by College Board for each test is $96. If your family qualifies for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program (FRLP), the fee is $64 per test. For more information on AP exam purchasing and registration, please click here.

All students currently enrolled in an AP class at CSArts-SGV are eligible to take the corresponding AP exam. Students are encouraged to register and pay only for those exams they are committed to taking. When ordering exams, we highly encourage both student and parent to be present to ensure that the correct exams are ordered. Please print and save your emailed receipt of payment for your records, as students may need it for future reference or refunds.

2022 AP exams are scheduled to be administered over two weeks in May: Monday, May 2 - Friday, May 6 and Monday, May 9 - Friday, May 13. You may find the full AP testing schedule here.

At this time, the UC and CSU systems do not require college entrance exams; however, there are some private colleges and out-of-state colleges that still recommend submitting test scores for college admissions.
COVID-19 DASHBOARD & WEEKLY TESTING
All of CSArts-SGV’s most recent COVID-19 information, including policies, procedures, and important health and safety resources, can be found on our COVID-19 Dashboard. The COVID-19 Dashboard is updated regularly to help keep our community informed of positivity rates at our school. On this page, you can also access the COVID-19 Reporting Form in order to report a positive test, symptoms, or exposure.

Please remember that weekly COVID-19 testing will continue to be available to all faculty, staff, students, and families as an extra health and safety resource every Monday at 1:30 p.m. The drive-through clinic is located in the parking lot off Highland Avenue. Walk-ups are welcome. Please note that we have recently changed vendors for this service. As a result, all members of the CSArts-SGV community will need to re-register for testing if they have not done so already. Please visit our COVID-19 Dashboard for information on how to register with our new vendor.
