Update on a Return to School

Dear Bishop Manogue Families,

I wanted to provide you with an update on our return to school. The good news from our exclusions and virtual learning is that we have had very few notifications of students becoming ill or testing positive; however, we have had more faculty cases. With our recent faculty cases, it appears most likely that their cases resulted from an on campus exposure. A large number of staff exclusions make it challenging to maintain on-campus education; we currently have ten teachers and two administrators quarantined through late November due to exposures and positive cases. We can run our building with some substitutes, but we require a certain number of trained staff and administrators on campus to maintain our emergency, crisis, and daily protocols. That is not possible with our current staffing levels.

During our full-time virtual learning, we are using this opportunity with an empty building to take additional steps on campus to ensure student and staff safety, including enhanced disinfection efforts and the addition of plexiglass barriers for our faculty. It is our goal to remain open, as always, and we need our faculty to remain healthy in order for that to happen. The plexiglass will minimize the faculty exclusions required due to exposure, keeping more faculty on campus, and help prevent illness. Additionally, we are preparing the campus once again to hold no more than 50 students in any given location, per the requirements set by the Washoe County Health District.

I thank you for your commitment to work with us in partnership as we keep our school safe. When we work together, I know there is nothing this community cannot accomplish. As a Bishop Manogue Family, I know we will get through this with resilience, determination, and faith. We are not alone, the Lord walks with us in all things, and He is walking with our school now. Please join me in continuing to pray for our school community and an end to this terrible pandemic. We will continue to update you as more information is available.

May God bless you and your family,

Matthew J. Schambari

Athletics
Hello Manogue Parents,

Have you completed Athletic Clearance for your child yet? If not, NOW is the time! Find out how at bishopmanogueathletics.com/clearance.

With our seasons condensed due to COVID-19, it's more important than ever not to wait until the last minute.

Winter sports are scheduled to begin January 2, 2021, followed six short weeks later by Fall sports, with Spring sports just six weeks after that. That's a SPRINT, and we want all of our athletes to hit the ground running--cleared and ready to participate the moment they are allowed.

You'll find complete instructions at bishopmanogueathletics.com/clearance, and if you have problems or questions, contact me!

Service Hours
Reno Ice
We are so excited for Reno Ice! If you are as excited as we are, here are some opportunities to volunteer to help get the rink going! Sign Up.
Remember, the Diocese of Reno has mandatory requirements for volunteering at all Diocesan schools, including Bishop Manogue, and you cannot earn service hours until those requirements have been met. Contact Bonnie Hansen at  bonnie.hansen@bishopmanogue.org  or 775-336-6000 with questions.

Parents will have to enroll in Protecting God's Children through Virtus and stay up to date on monthly bulletins for two years. After the two years, you have completed all the necessary bulletins. This transfers over from any of the Diocesan schools. If you are still receiving bulletins after two complete years, contact Elda Juarez at  eldaj@catholicreno.org  to be removed from the update list.
