Hello Everyone, Happy New Year and Welcome to Winter!
It's your heart that takes you places... Come and play in our winter wonderland, wander where the WiFi is weak. We provide plenty of incentive to explore...
Enjoy Vermont’s great outdoors. At Pond Mountain Inn, our goal is to get you out to explore the Vermont outdoors. We’ll take you on personalized, guided tours to the least discovered places of Vermont for one-of-a-kind experiences while enjoying nature at its purest. We plan fascinating activities for everyone, but it’s those days when serendipity intervenes that create the most poignant and joyful memories.
All our best – Kay & Glenn

Wild Surroundings
Shoreham, Vermont
Lars Jacob founded Wild Surroundings as means to support, encourage, and educate individuals who are interested in an adventurous, wilderness-oriented lifestyle, and, in turn, to transform that interest into a lifelong passion for the great outdoors. It's not just about shooting—this spring, we're becoming "mushroom hunters"! And, the morel is our species of choice. Thanks Lars!

Meant more as a humorous warning, but don't ignore the message... Winter dining at the Upper Ciccarellis requires a little logistical planning, unless you prefer to walk, and that’s a bit of a challenge too, as a few of our guests have experienced! Over a half mile up, we call ahead and meet at “the pole barn”, where we’re picked up by a four-wheel drive truck with chains and a plow—Uber Extreme, that's our Vermont.

Hue & Cry: French Printmaking and the Debate Over Colors. The Exhibition Ends March 6, 2022.
Brightly colored prints and posters are synonymous with Paris in the 1890s—a period known as the Belle Époque (beautiful age). Yet, at the time, color in print was an outlier phenomenon. We have plans to visit the exhibition three times!

Stratton Ranks #12 in the Top 20 Best East Coast Ski Resorts according to the readers of Ski Magazine—and our guests love it too! It’s the highest peak in southern Vermont, just 38 miles from PMI. The good news, is that all signs point to a more normal ski season this winter. Thanks, Stratton, for the photo!

Ice Castles in Lake George • January 22 - February 27, 2022
|
Ice Castles is an awe-inspiring, must-see winter phenomenon that brings fairy tales to life. This winter, escape into an icy wonderland in beautiful Lake George—this is one of only five locations across the United States. Each castle is approximately an acre in size and consists of more than 25 million pounds of ice.
The experience is built entirely by hand using hundreds of thousands of icicles, grown, sculpted, and hand-placed by professional ice artists. The castles include breathtaking LED-lit sculptures, frozen thrones, ice-carved tunnels, caverns, slides, and fountains. The one-of-a-kind, award-winning winter attraction takes a team of 20-40 ice artisans approximately 8-weeks to construct, and is only open as long as Mother Nature permits… Don't worry if you can't make it, we'll take tons of pictures!

LADURÉE MADISON • LADURÉE SOHO • LADURÉE HUDSON YARD
Three Locations for our New York Guests
|
We had these over the Christmas holiday. Like a stroll down the Champs-Élysées…The Ladurée European Macaron is the best macaron experience on earth. It’s not only delicious, but they’re works-of-art. These alluring, dainty Parisian delicacies are well worth a king’s ransom—the Brocart Gift Box of 24 Macarons will set you back $84. The seasonal Dark Chocolate-Coated Labrador Tea and the Lemon Macaron are among our favorites… Now, the recipe looks intriguing, and a lot of work… I’d opt to simply buy them on-line! However, here’s the recipe for the truly adventurous: The Recipe.

…for The Best Ski Resorts in the U.S. and Canada. Mount Snow Resort in Vermont ranked #22 and Whiteface, Lake Placid ranked #21. Deer Valley in Park City, Utah ranked #1, which, coincidentally, is where we spent the Christmas holidays. Although, we did not stay at the St. Regis Deer Valley, we had a wonderful lunch there. We did ride the exclusive funicular that transports skiers to the top of the slopes… the St. Regis is truly a magnificent property! We love our local favorites, and we’re perfectly situated to ski Stratton • Bromley • Killington • Pico • Okemo.

More Ice Fishing at Pond Mountain Inn This Winter!
|
Have you ever wanted to go ice fishing but don’t know where to start? Or, you have no interest in ice fishing whatsoever, but love the idea of experiencing something entirely new and exciting outdoors, then let our friends Carrie & Kevin be your guide to successful ice fishing. We went ice fishing twice last year and caught 25 fish—perch, largemouth bass, northern pike, and a big brown trout.
Carrie and Kevin, do it all… They setup and prepare everything; all you have to do is show up, catch big fish and enjoy the incredible Vermont outdoors while eagles soar above waiting to steal an unattended fish laying on the ice! That’s something to see! What’s better than spending a picturesque day on the lake fishing for trophy fish or for dinner that evening back at Pond Mountain Inn. The best tasting fish we’ve ever had! If you want a laugh, go to our Pond Mountain Inn Facebook Page, scroll down a few pictures, and watch Kay reel in a Big Brown Trout, make sure you turn up the volume!
